A loud crash reverberated through the tower. You were on your feet and armed in a matter of minutes. A half naked Adam stumbled out of the medical office as you reached the bottom of the steps. A cloud of flames and smoke billowed from the doorway and Adam limped over. You handed him a gun which he took quickly. Barney burst out of the medical office with a rifle in his hands. It was quiet for a minute while the smoke and dust settled, then 10-15 gunners rushed in. As you three engaged in a gun fight, Ross, Morgan, and Evan joined in. Even with everyone in their pajamas and half awake, you all conquered the gunners in about 5 minutes.

Once the last guy dropped, you all sat down or leaned against the closest wall. Silence fell over your group, and your eyes drooped shut. It was only about 2 in the morning so most of you were still tired. The adrenaline rush was coming to an end and you told everyone to go back to bed. Though there was still a hole where your door used to be, so you asked Barney to help you patch it up for now.

Grabbing some scraps, you guys nailed some wood boards over the hole for the time being. It was just enough to cover it, good enough for the time being. You nodded to Barney and he walked back to his room, then you went to yours. Your daughter and husband sat on your bed, holding each other close.

You sat down with them and your daughter crawled over to you. You pulled her into your lap and stroked her hair. You could tell she was scared by her shaking, but being in your arms helped calm her down.

"What was it?" Max asked, leaning his head on your shoulder.

"Gunners. About 10-15 of them. They blew a pretty big hole in the doorway, so that's what I'll be fixing later." You sighed. Looking down, you placed a kiss atop of your daughter's head. Soon, she was asleep leaning against your chest. You picked her up and set her down on the mattress next to yours and Max's bed. You covered her up, then got back on your own bed.

"I want to help." Max whispered. You both laid down and he pulled you close.

"Ok thanks baby." You smiled and drifted off to sleep.

You woke up about 8am, and quickly got breakfast. There was only one person up at that point. Alesa walked out and joined you at the dining table.

"Hey general." She greeted.

"Good morning Alesa. How did you sleep?" You asked. She smiled at first, then grimaced.

"Well, not exactly. What happened early this morning?" She asked, grabbing a coffee and sitting down at the table.

"About 10 to 15 gunners blew a hole in the wall where the door was. They came in guns blazing, but we stopped them." You explained. She nodded silently and continued sipping her drink.

Later on, you helped Barney and Max fix the door. The alert bell also was damaged so you had to make another one. The rest of the day you spent making a more advanced alert bell. It was a sensory system that rang an upstairs bell when someone stepped on the doormat. Just as you finished setting it up, Max called you in for dinner. You ate happily and retired to your room.

Your daughter however, wasn't sleepy at all and couldn't relax. You decided to sit next to her and ask why.

"Mama! My birthday is tomorrow, I'm just so excited!" She whined. You hugged her with a light smile on your lips.

"I know you're excited, but you have to sleep so you get enough energy for tomorrow." She sighed heavily and kissed your cheek, then snuggled back under her blanket. With that, you went back to your own bed and fell asleep next to Max.
