A/N This story is told completely in third person perspective. It's also a happy fluffy story after the last two I've written... We need some joyful stories. Also, feel free to request story ideas, or writing prompts.

James rushed quickly out of his Charlottesville  apartment, eager to get to Thomas for their date. He stuffs the box in his pocket, grabs his keys, and hurries out the door to his car.  James promptly throws himself into his black Mercedes AMG GT and speeds off to Monticello as fast as legally possible.

Meanwhile, Thomas is no where near ready, he rushes to the shower, and stands indecisively in front of his closet, in nothing but a towel. Suddenly, he hears a knock at his door and goes to open it.

"Thomas, you're seriously not ready?" James asks, obviously amused by his boyfriends current state.

"No... I got into an online debate with someone by the name of 'SmartestInTheRoom'," Thomas admits embarrassed. A slight blush starting to form on his cheeks.

"Don't worry Tommy, It's cute the way you rush to do things." James exclaims with a slight chuckle. Thomas nods briefly, then goes back to his room to get dressed. James sits on the couch and waits patiently for Thomas. A good ten minutes later, Thomas emerges in his fancy magenta suit. Thomas knew that this was James' favorite suit on him, so he wore it.

"Ready to go Jemmy?" Thomas asks.

"Of course darlin'." James replies happily.

Thomas grabs James' hand and leads him out, locking the door behind him. They walk to James' car and go to the restaurant. During dinner Thomas notices that James is acting weird, and decides to ask about it.

"Jemmy, are you okay? You look like you're anxious 'bout somethin', what is it?" He asks sweetly.

James looks up for a moment and puts his hand on Thomas'.

"Nothing, I-I have to go to the washroom." James stammers and rushes off to the washroom. He stares at himself in the mirror and pulls out the box, trying to think about what he wants to say to Thomas. Nervously, he shoves the box back into his suit pocket, and walks back over to his concerned lover.

"James, are you sure you're okay? Are you sick? Do you wanna go home-"

James cuts him off with a gentle kiss, earning a couple of glances from the people around them. Thomas pulls away and is about to speak before James falls to one knee. Thomas stares at him in disbelief, placing his hands over his mouth. James completely loses his words.

"Thomas, I can't even think of words to describe the way I love you, we've been best friends since Elementary School, and now we're boyfriends. But I want to know that I can spend he rest of my life with you. So I guess there's nothing else to say other than to ask you. Thomas Jefferson, will you marry me?" Thomas gets down to James' level and throws himself into a hug. Tears fall down his face lightly.

"James Madison, I thought you'd never ask. Yes, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and past that! Yes James, I will marry you. A million times over, yes." Thomas says through tears of joy. James stands up and scoops Thomas into his arms, leaving money on the table. He walks out to his car and places Thomas in the passenger side gently. Quickly, he walks over to the driver's side of the car and hops in. He turns on the radio and their song "How Forever Feels" by Kenny Chesney comes on. They hold hands gently on the ride back to Monticello.

"I love you Thomas Jefferson."

"I love you too, James Madison."
