General Washington walked around the field, the aftermath of a battle. He saw a mixture of red and blue coats stained with blood laying on the ground. Both sides had taken major losses. The General's concern? He had let Hamilton go with them. In a state of panic, he walked around, checking every blue coat for the fiery red hair and violet-blue eyes belonging to his beloved Hamilton, no one knew, but Washington's eyes had been set on the younger man for a long time.
Hours passed and there was no sign of Hamilton, the General had begun to lose faith, something he rarely did. Dusk began to fall over the field and men took out lanterns to continue picking up the bodies of fallen Americans.
"General! We found one who has survived!" Shouted one of his Lieutenants.
The General rushed over, and in the dim light of the lantern, he saw the unmistakable glow of the red hair, down to the soft light reflecting off the man's pale skin. There was no doubt about it, it was Alexander Hamilton. Washington watched the slow rise and fall of his chest, his eyes slowly gazed down to the patch of blood on his jacket. He had been shot.
"You said he's alive, correct?"
The Lieutenant nodded and Washington knelt down to carefully pick up the young male. Hamilton was barely conscious and had not recognized who had picked him up until Washington spoke.
"Dear boy you nearly gave me a heart attack. Stay alive for me."
Hamilton looked at Washington through half closed eyes, nearly falling unconscious he managed to faintly whisper his name. His voice hoarse and the General's name barely audible due to the younger male's thick Caribbean accent.
Washington carried Hamilton back to their camp on horseback, halfway through the ride back, Hamilton had fallen unconscious and was nearing his defeat. Slowly, he drifted toward what seemed like inevitable death.
~Time skip~
Hamilton awoke in the medical tent. His eyes adjusting to the light, it was now day. The doctor had said it would a miracle for the young man to survive. He sat up slowly, pain shooting through his body, he had been out for two days, the General growing more and more worried with every hour that passed. Someone came in and quickly walked out when they realized he was indeed awake. From outside, a voice called out.
"General Washington, he's awake!"
A few moments passed and Washington entered the tent to see Hamilton, hair tangled and messy, pale, he looked like a mess. Washington was quick to be at his side.
"My dear Hamilton, how lucky you are to be alive. Death nearly caught you this time didn't it?"
Hamilton let out a breathy chuckle which made the General's heart flutter. He loved Hamilton's voice, he couldn't get enough of it.
"Yes, indeed I have yet again faced near death. I only ever realize how much life means after every near death moments I have had in my lifetime."
"How much life means?"
"Yes, I've always thought I'd have as much time as I require to live, and do things. But every moment like this reminds me that I should enjoy what little or ample time I may have."
Washington sighed and stared into Hamilton's eyes.
"That should always be your thought process Ale- Hamilton."
Did I almost call him Alexander? How unprofessional. He is a soldier, so I should treat him as such. But why do I feel differently toward him?
"But I must admit Hamilton, the only time I ever enjoy is that which I have with you. The war just disappears when I'm around you. And I'll admit dear Hamilton, I've had sinful thoughts about you. It's wrong for me to find you attractive because you are a man, and a soldier of mine, and you are younger than me. But I can't keep my feelings to myself anymore."
Hamilton looked back into his soft gray-blue eyes. For the first time, Alexander was able to process his feelings.
He reached for the collar of Washington's jacket and pulled him down to connect their lips. The kiss was brief, as neither wanted to be caught. They pulled away and were silent for what seemed like minutes.
"Not a word to anyone Hamilton."
"Call me Alexander. Please, dear General, I bear the same feelings toward you."
Washington was shocked that Hamilton would return the same feelings. He knew they would have to keep a relationship secret though, they couldn't risk being caught. Neither wanted to be hanged, or worse...
"Okay, Alexander, meet me by the lake. I believe we need to discuss something privately."
Hamilton nodded and Washington turned on his heel and walked out.
Later when Hamilton was free to leave, he walked to the lake and met with Washington.
"Alexander, you do understand the consequences of our actions if we are caught?"
Hamilton nodded. He knew very well what would happen if they were caught. He had seen it too many times in the Caribbean. Men being hanged for being homosexual. But he was willing to risk it.
"I understand."
"So? What are you willing to risk?"
"Everything."
Hamilton stood on his toes and connected their lips.
Little did they know, a British soldier was watching them from a distance.
Sorry for the cliffhanger ending...
