This might be a long story.

"So why do we have to bring the lovebirds from Virginia?" Hercules asked.

Alexander sighed.

"Because Washington told me to. So get the shit in the car, and let's head out. From Thomas' place to Vegas is 37 hours, so we're gonna switch drivers every now and then."

Hercules nodded and he and Lafayette carried everything to the car. Alexander sat rubbing his temples.

"Love, I know you don't want to get along with Jefferson, but maybe getting away from New York will be good for you."

"Maybe, but still, Jefferson will be there-"

"So will James, we both know that Thomas isn't as bad when James is around. You know that James always calms him down. We'll be fine."

Alexander let out an exasperated sigh and walked out with John. 6 hours to Charlottesville. 6 hours without Thomas, he was gonna try and enjoy it.

"So who's driving to Thomas'?" Hercules asked.

"Well you asked, so you drive," Alexander said flatly.

Hercules rolled his eyes and got in, Lafayette next to him. Alexander and John sat in the back. Alexander hadn't slept all night, so when John woke him up abruptly, he was a little grumpy for a bit. Alexander looked outside and realized they were at Thomas' Monticello estate. Alexander screamed internally as they walked out. Lafayette knocked on the door and Thomas opened it happily, inviting them inside as they finished packing.

"So how was the drive?" Thomas asks.

"Long. Boring." Lafayette responded.

Alexander hesitated to walk inside, but with a push from John, he stepped in.

"Jeez Thomas, you're loaded aren't you."

Thomas chuckled.

"Yeah, my family has a lot of money. Or... had."

No one decided to question Thomas, they all knew about his hard past. His father died when he was 14 and his mother passed when he was 19. He rarely talked about it. There was silent tension.

The tension was broken when James came out with a bag. He set it by the door next to Thomas'.

"Hey, guys."

James' accent was lighter than Thomas' and John's, but it was still noticeable. Honestly, it was rather adorable.

Thomas and James placed their bags in the car and Thomas stopped.

"Hang on... There's six of us and five seats."

Alexander chuckled.

"Well, James is small."

James blushed, fully understanding Alexander's point.

Soon enough, Alexander was driving, John was next to him. Hercules was in the back, Lafayette in the middle, and Thomas sat next to him with James in his lap. Yes, this was very illegal, but they didn't care. James was happy and perfectly fine with sitting in Thomas' lap. Thomas had no protest, he didn't mind either. His only condition was that they could sit in the front together when either of them was driving.

First 4 1/2 Hours - Driver: Alexander. Distance: 2333 miles. Next stop: Charleston, WV.

For the first 30 minutes, Alexander and Thomas argued over what music to play. It began to get annoying.

"Toommmyyyy stooppppp," James whined, as he threw his head back and rested it on Thomas' shoulder.

Hearing James whine made Thomas shut up right away, not wanting to annoy his lover. Alexander, with a smug triumphant grin, set the radio to the music he wanted. He and John held hands, Lafayette and Hercules were talking quietly with each other. Meanwhile, Thomas sat looking out the window, trying to drown out the music Alexander had put on, James began to fall asleep, shifting his position so he was leaning his back against the window and he was resting his head on Thomas' chest. Thomas smiled and placed his arm under James' knees and held him gently as James drifted off to sleep.
