We have all asked this question...

Everyone was all hanging out at a party being hosted by George Washington, he was always hesitant to host parties, particularly when there is alcohol involved, but this time he didn't care. He felt like having a good time and not worrying until the next day. However, this time he was a little excited. George had someone new over. Someone who people couldn't quite tell what he was...

Peggy was talking with Thomas and James, she was just trying to get to know them. Honestly, she just enjoyed socializing and these two didn't ignore her. So there she was until suddenly, she noticed the new person. A tall, skinny tan-skinned man talking to Washington. She couldn't make out his voice, but her gaydar was off the charts. She observed him for a bit, his long dark eyelashes flowed softly when he blinked, his stature was very relaxed and he had a resting flirtatious expression. She noticed how he was dressed. Very fashionable and rather... different.

"Peggy what are you staring at?" Thomas asked her, she snapped into reality and chose to speak her mind.

She pointed to the man speaking with Lafayette.

"There right there!" She began, Thomas looked in the direction that she was pointing, he stared in shock at the man who looked somewhat like him. He was about to speak when Peggy continued.

"Look at that tan, well-tinted skin, look at that killer shape he's in. Look at that slightly stubbly chin"

"What about it-"

"Oh please, he's gay, totally gay!"

Thomas glanced between them before forming his own opinion, choosing to disagree. Having visited Europe, he chose a different approach.

"I'm not about to celebrate, every trait could indicate, the totally straight expatriate. This guy's not gay, I say not gay."

James looks at the man too, then back at Peggy and Thomas.

"That is the elephant in the room. Well, is it relevant to assume that a man who wears perfume is automatically medically fay?"

Peggy shook her head and looked at James.

"But look at his quoft and crispy locks, look at his silk translucent socks. There's the eternal paradox. Look, what we're seeing."

John Laurens overheard their conversation, he walks over to them.

"What are we seeing?" He asks.

James continues his sentence and gestures to the man.

"Is he gay-"

John and Peggy look at who they're talking about and look at James.

"Of course he's gay-"

Thomas cuts in, finishing for James.

"Or European?"

Peggy and John look at each other. John's boyfriend Alexander walks over and looks at them.

"Ohhhh..."

"Gay or European?" Alexander says.

"It's hard to guarantee... Is he gay or European?" John says and looks at James.

"Well hey don't look at me!" James says. Thomas chuckles and speaks next.

"You see they bring their boys up different in those charming foreign ports. They play peculiar sports in shiny shirts and tiny shorts..."

Alexander decides to join in with his opinion.

"Gay or foreign fella? The answer could take weeks, they say things like 'Ciao bella' while they kiss you on both cheeks..."

"Gay or European?" John continues.

"So many shades of gray..." Peggy says.

"Depending on the time of day, the French go either way..." Thomas points out.

Angelica pulls Eliza over to join their conversation.

"Is he gay or European?" Eliza asks gently.

"Or live right there!"

Angelica points at him. The man with Washington laughs and gives him a flirtatious and snobbish smirk.

"Look at that condescending smirk, seen it on every guy at work." She continues, Eliza cuts in.

"That is a metro-hetro jerk. That guy's not gay. I say, NO WAY!"

That is the elephant in the room

James cuts in again.

"Well is it relevant to assume, that a hottie in that costume is automatically, radically-"

"Ironically, chronically-" Thomas says.

"Certaintly-" Peggy cuts in.

"Curtaintly," Alexander and John agree.

"Genetically-" Angelica chimed in.

"Medically gay." Eliza states.

"Officially gay! Officially gay!" John shouts.

"GAY" Peggy and Alexander shout.

Thomas sighs in frustration.

"DAMMIT! Gay or European? So stylish and relaxed... Is he gay or European?"

"I think his chest is waxed..." John mumbles.

"But they bring their boys up different, there it's culturally diverse... It's not a fashion curse if he wears a kilt or bears a purse." James noted.

"Gay or just exotic? I still can't crack the code..." Angelica ranted.

They hear him laugh, it sounds French. Out of nowhere, Hercules joins their conversation.

"Yet his accent is hypnotic.."

"But his shoes are pointy toed..." Eliza points out.

"Gay or European? So many shades of gray-" Alexander starts before Eliza cuts him off.

"But if he turns out straight I'm free at eight on Saturday..." She winks.

"GAY OR EUROPEAN?!?!?!" Thomas shouts loudly. This grabs everyone's attention. James face palms.

Washington looks over at them.

"What on Earth are you guys talking about?"

They blush in embarrassment. Thomas speaks up.

"The uhh... man you are talking to..."

Washington looks to his left.

"Oh him. This is Lafayette. What were you asking about him?"

Lafayette smirks and looks at the group of people.

"Is he gay or European?" John asks tentatively.

"He's both-" Washington starts before being cut off by Lafayette.

"I'm not gay! I'm straight!-"

"You were not yesterday." Washington chuckles and looks at him. Lafayette blushes intensly.

"Okay... okay... I'm gay and European..." He admits. His French accent being smooth and gentle.

They all chuckle.

"Yeah we know."
