Alani's pov:
"Corey, when do you think it'll be the right time to have kids?" I questioned nervously because I know his career is very important at this time, now being his 3rd season soon.
He set his phone down on the kitchen counter top and gave his full attention to me.
"Anytime is the right time, as long as it's with you." he responded.
"It better be with, I'm your wife." I chuckled, but also got butterflies in the pit of my stomach from saying 'I'm your wife.'
"Lan, you know what I mean. But I'm serious. Are you thinking about soon?" he asked as he furrowed his eyebrows inward.
"Well, you're twenty-four, I'm twenty-three next week, then give it nine months or so and we'll be great ages for a child. I don't want to be too old to have kids." I said sounding all technical.
"Then let's do it." he said planting a soft kiss on my lips tasting like his starbucks coffee.
"Sounds good to me." I said as I had my head up against his heaving chest.
I looked down at our conjoined hands and both of our rings complimented each other. This is the point in my life that I have been envisioning my whole life. Leaning in the arms of my husband, happily married three months in and talking about having children. This is our happy point, and it's just starting.
"No but really, let's do it now." he said catching me off guard sweeping me off my feet and into our bedroom.
Nobody was home besides us so he really was taking advantage of that.
~
Baseball was in full effect as we just entered May. The team were play 28 games in the next 30 days, which is a pretty harsh schedule. Two days off, but those are technically travel days. Life is moving very quickly and so is work but I'm enjoying it.
Elle is already a year old and finally walking. She has so many features of Trayce, especially his curly hair! She is probably the cutest baby ever, but our baby is going to be cuter, sorry sis. Yes you read that right, OUR baby. I am four months pregnant with baby Seager #1. Corey was so excited when I told him, he called almost everyone in his contacts. He keeps calling the baby his princess but I have a feeling that I'm carrying the next rookie of the year like his daddy.
¨Hey Alani, can you give Joc an extra ten on his stretches. I want that groin injury fully healed and looked at before he hits the field. You're in charge of clearing him kid, no pressure." Roberts said. ¨Oh by the way, when do you find out the gender?¨
¨Tomorrow, after the game.¨ I said trying to hold in my excitement with a smile.
¨My money is on a boy.¨ he smiled before walking away.
I smiled to myself and sat up on my massage table waiting for the guys to come in.
"Hey Lans, coach just told me to come to you." Joc said as he jumped up on the table with me.
"How's the groin?" I asked as I got down and poured icy hot in my hands and began to massage the thigh. As I was massaging it, I could see his top lip quiver from a wince he was trying to hold in.
"It's good, well better at least." he said trying to act like it was no big deal.
"Joc, I'm in charge of clearing you, so if it's not fully healed you need to tell me." I said making this serious.
"No, I'm good. I promis...oww, ouch. Why did you do that?" he hissed as applied more pressure on his injury.
I had barely applied pressure to his injury and I could tell that it really hurt him. He got hot red in his face and clutched his inner thigh.
"Joc you were about to promise me. You're lying. I can't clear you, not yet at least." I said sounding sympathetic because he is my best friend and I know how much the game means to him. But I have to be his trainer at this point, not his best friend.
I turned to my left to grab my report folder to fill out for coach. I could get fired if I missjudged this and allowed him to play so I know I'm making the right decision.
"Are you serious right now? I'm your best friend! You can't leave me on the DL any longer. Bellinger is out there rocking it in my spot. If I sit out one more game, I can lose my position permanently." he spat out full of anger.
"And if I let you play with that injury, you won't have a spot for the rest of the season. I'm your trainer right now Joc not your best friend. I tried to be both, but it looks like you can't handle both." I responded right back pissed off that he would bring our friendship in this.
I walked away towards coach Robert's office with the injury report firm in my hand when I felt a hard and aggressive pull on my right shoulder causing me to shriek in pain. My shoulder had made a loud popping noise and I looked down to see the socket out of place.
"What the hell?!" I yelled turning to Joc as his face turned pale.
"I'm so sorry! Alani, I'm sorry so sorry!" he said freaking out.
"You just dislocated my shoulder Joc!" I said with my blood boiling.
"Alani are you okay?" Chris asked coming from the doorway where he saw the whole thing go down.
"I'm fine." I quickly replied. "You know what Joc, you can stay on the DL and stay away from me." I said earning a guilty and hurt look from him.
"Don't say anything about what just happened, especially to Corey." I whispered to Chris. He simply nodded and walked with me to the pitchers trainers to pop my shoulder back in.
I gave Roberts the injury report and kindly agreed that Joc could take two more games off. I also asked him if I could take the day off because I "fell" and hurt my shoulder and he was totally okay with it.
"Hey Lani! Skip told Corey and I that you're not stretching us today. Is it true?" Kiké asked with a sad face.
"Yeah I'm sitting out today. I fell and hit my shoulder." I replied.
"Are you okay? Is the baby okay?!" Corey asked freaking out.
"Yes baby, we are both fine." I chuckled at how cute he reacted. "I hurt my shoulder for a reason, I caught myself."
"Okay, well sit with the girls please and if you need anything just come to the clubhouse."
"Yes babe, I know. Good luck and kick ass you two." I said then giving Corey a small good luck kiss.
~
I walked up and toward the family section in the Lodge level and noticed the barnes family sitting together. I noticed all but Griffin and that was because he's enjoying the college life.
"Look who it is, my favorite family is here." I said hugging them all.
"It's so good to see you. Are you sitting up here today or are you working with the guys today?" mama barnes asked.
"I'm sitting up here today. Roberts gave me the day off." I replied but didn't bring up the shoulder.
"So if I buy you a beer, technically it wouldn't be drinking on the job correct?" Dylan asked.
"Correct, but I can't..." I was saying before Sav interrupted.
"Dyl she's married now, you have to get rid of that crush." Sav said putting him on blast.
"Sav!" he yelled.
"Awwe Dyl, you had a crush on me?" I said causing his to blush in embarrassment.
"You're beautiful Alani, but I respect you and Corey and I'm happy for you guys." he said respectfully and meaningful.
"Thank you Dylan. You'll find your perfect one soon. I promise. Also on that beer offer... I can't, I don't know if Austin told you guys or not, but Corey and I are expecting." I said with the biggest smile.
"What! Oh my goodness, honey congratulations!" mama barnes said so excited.
"You guys have a mvp in that belly." Dylan said pointing at my stomach.
"Talking about your belly, where the hell is that baby belly? How far along are you?" Sav asked confused.
"I'm 17 weeks, so a little over 3 months and the belly is coming. I'm growing slowly but it also hides under the oversized windbreakers I wear." I chuckled as I unzipped it and revealed the small bump coming along.
"Oh my gosh, you're so small! Look how tiny and cute you are." Sav said touching my stomach.
"Sav, don't cause attention. We haven't officially announced it yet." I said looking around to make sure no fans really saw.
¨You got it. I'll keep my mouth shut.¨ she said with a huge grin.
"Here sit down baby mama." Sav said, patting the seat in between her and Dylan.
"How's Griff doing?" I questioned because I sure did miss that funny kid.
"He's doing good. Facetime him and see if he answers." Dylan said handing me his phone with Griff's contact.
The call rang and rang and rang and finally it read "connecting" and the three of us did the "you got games" pose leaving only our eyes and foreheads visible. Griffin was wearing no shirt, had his hair all over the place and was breathing heavily.
"Oh my. Griffin did we just interrupt you and a lady friend?" I asked laughing.
"No, no I wasn't doing that." he said quickly indicating he was lying.
"Griff babe, can I borrow a shirt?" echoed in the background of his dorm. He put his head down in embarrassment because he knew he was caught.
"Well I just wanted to say hi little Griff and I miss you kid. Have fun, but not too much fun." I giggled before hanging up.
"Here's a tip guys, don't answer a facetime call literally after you've just had sex." I said looking at the two sitting next to me.
"I'm not that dumb, that's why you answer while having sex not after." Sav said in such a serious tone.
Both Dylan and I looked at her like she was the craziest person ever, yet she probably is but then she began laughing.
"I'm joking guys. I hope ya'll don't do that." she said breaking the silence in the convo.
Although the silence was fading, all of our phones vibrated which signaled a notification from MLB at bat and it read, "Joc Pederson is placed on the 10-day DL (groin) Brett Eibner is recalled from Oklahoma (AAA)."
Jacey looked up at me from a couple of rows ahead and said, "Lani, why is he on the DL again? Go tell Roberts that he's fine."
I got up and out of my seat and walked down towards them to explain myself best without causing a scene.
"Jacey, he's not healed yet. I'd rather have him out and heal up now than to blow the rest of his season all because he wants to play with an injured groin." I said in the most polite and honest way.
"You mean to tell me that you put him on the DL?" she questioned angrily.
"Jacey please, it's my job. I couldn't let him play." I responded calmly.
"We'll start doing your job right!" She spat angrily.
I couldn't believe how mad she was right now. I looked at champ sitting down next to her and he looked sad. I didn't know what to say at this point. I also didn't want to make things worse so I just walked back up the stairs and passed the Barnes family and decided it was best to go home.
"Lani! Alain!" I heard Dylan yelling after me.
"Not now Dylan, I'm going home." I responded while maintaining my concentration on walking up the steps without tripping.
"Okay, wait. Let me drive you. I hate when girls take Uber's alone."
"You sure? No you came to see Austin, stay and watch I'll be fine." I insisted.
"He's not playing today, plus I'm always here." He argued.
"Fine, let me just go get my stuff from the clubhouse." I said as we walked towards the elevators.
We had finally left the stadium but it was a pain in the butt because the game didn't even start yet. We ended up at the house and I turned on the game so we wouldn't miss anything, or at least we tried. Before I knew it, I was knocked out asleep and when I woke up later in the day, Dylan was gone with a note that read,
"Didn't want to wake you, but I thought you'd like some sleep. See you tomorrow."
