Layla's pov:

One week later

"How is she?" I asked Corey as I finally got Elle to take her nap.

"I don't know what to do Layla. She hasn't said a word from, well you know that day. I have to practically force her to eat, and it's becoming unhealthy for the babies." he responded with a sense of worry.

"Don't worry. Shower up, get yourself something to eat, and rest. You need to take care of yourself too. I'll watch her for the day." I urged and finally after some convincing, he took up on the offer.

I softly knocked on the door of her bedroom and I wasn't expecting an answer from her so I let myself in. There she was, lying on her bed with her back facing me. Her hair looked about four days without a wash, and I'm assuming that because she was still in the same clothes as the last time I forced her to shower.

"Hey lans, it's me." I said as I softly sat next to her on her bed, but she wouldn't bother to move or speak. "I'm worried about you. I'm also worried about the babies."

She finally moved around in her sheets so she was now able to look at me.

"Have you ate today?" I questioned concerned by the look of the dark circles and bags she carried underneath her eyes.

"Yes." she softly whispered with little to no energy. "Corey fed me oatmeal."

"Good, you need to feed your babies. They need you to be strong and continue growing. Don't do it for anyone else but them okay." I said as tears began to slowly fall from her eyes.

"I can't do it Layla. Crystal is gone." she cried into my lap.

"I know babygirl. I miss her too, you know she's watching over you right now and is probably mad because you aren't taking care of yourself. She wouldn't want you to do this." I said trying to reassure her. "Remember, for your babies."

"Can you call Corey for me. I want to shower." she said and it was like taking baby steps with her.

"Of course, I'll bring him right now." I answered before leaving the room to get Corey from downstairs.

As I was walking down the stairs, I began to overhear the conversation about Joc.

"So I just got off the phone with Joc's attorney and his sentencing isn't looking too good. He's looking at years in prison if things go as planned and if not, he's looking at life in prison with parole. So if he is sentenced for life and does time with good behavior, then he can reduce his time, but his baseball days are over. MLB wants him released from the organization immediately with no pay." Trayce explained

"Fuck man.... What was going through his mind?" Corey spoke with sadness.

"I don't know bro, but I would never in a million years lay a finger on Layla, I just can't even imagine hurting her. How is Alani? She saw him hurting her right? She has to be scared out of her mind." Trayce questioned Corey.

"Exactly, and that's what makes me so mad. How can someone, especially Joc, lay a hand on... I can't even think about it. Poor Alani has to live with those images in her mind for the rest of her life. She's pregnant, she's supposed to be planning baby shower shit with Crystal and Layla, not sitting in a room traumatized over her cousin's death. This is just so unfair." he responded as he laid his head in his hands.

"Corey..." I finally spoke as I made myself visible to everyone.

"Is she okay?!" he asked with worry as he stood up quickly.
