Jin pov
"I'm sure everyone will be glad you're back." I encourage as Sung Kyung clings to my arm shyly. She stopped coming to club activities mid way through first semester because she got too overwhelmed with all her classes and got in her head. I was pleasantly surprised that she wanted to come again.
"I don't want people to think I'm fake." She whispers and I frown. I lift her chin and wipe away the tear that escapes one eye.
"You are the realest person I know." I wrap my arm around her and ignore the spectators that gathered around us as I lead her towards the elevator. "You're better than all of them," I whisper to her, but feel my soul depending on those words too. My emotions still feel raw from my outing with Namjoon and his cousin...Kim Taehyung.
I should just think of an excuse as to why I can no longer be Namjoon's friend so I can avoid all association with Taehyung. I sigh and shake my head. He would ask questions and plus it's too out of the blue. Taehyung already agreed to not say anything so everything will stay buried.
I relax my shoulders when we walk down the hallway towards the cooking club room. This room is different than the general body meeting room. It has 8 counters, two side by side going to the back of the room. On top of the counters are stoves and packed inside each is an oven for when we decide to bake something.
I squeeze Sung Kyung's hand one more time before leading us inside. About seven members litter the room talking, including our president. We wave to them all and their faces light up when they notice their friend that went M.I.A for months.
"Lee Sung Kyung!" One of the girls, Suran yells. "Did you travel to another dimension these last few months?"
"N-no," Sung Kyung answers as she's dragged away into a huddle of girls. I smirk to myself and walk over to our club president, Ken.
"I never thought she would be back." He states and I cross my arms.
"Yeah, it was tough but she's back and hopefully will stay." Ken strokes his chin and gives me a once over.
"You seem like her over protective brother." He states and I chuckle. "You two were always close." He adds before he gets distracted by who ever enters the room behind me. I turn around and instantly frown. "A new member!"
"Hey, pres!" Namjoon greets with his cousin on the right side of him and Yoongi on his left. I decide to walk over to them to act natural, but inside I am slowly dying. Namjoon raises an eyebrow at my cautious steps, but focuses back on Ken. "This is my cousin. He wanted to experience a college club."
"Nice to meet you." Ken says as he bows slightly which Taehyung returns just as politely. "We're just about to start. Tonight, we're making Army Stew!"
I lick my lips at the image of me stuffing my mouth with- I catch Namjoon's eye and he smirks at me knowingly and I glare at him. He takes a few steps over to me, but Yoongi easily slips passed us and heads to the group of girls Sung Kyung was talking too. To my surprise, he interrupts their conversation to greet Suran.
So he does have a voice.
Snapping fingers pull me out of my people watching and I am presented with Namjoon right in my face. "Um...excuse me..." I say awkwardly as I push his face away. That's when I notice Ken left already and it's just him and Taehyung. I also realize that Hoseok and Momo have yet to show up. Are they skipping tonight?
"What counter are you working at?" He asks and I look around. The only one empty is the 3rd one on the left towards the back. I point over there and he puts his hands in his pockets before gracefully strolling over.
Wait...did I invite him?
I roll my eyes and follow him, but feel the hairs on my back standing up from Taehyung a few steps behind me. When we get situated and the ingredients get passed around it is clear to see neither of them know how to cook. Namjoon cannot cut an onion to save his life and Taehyung is eating the ingredients. I guess they are related.
"Why did you join again?" I direct at Namjoon while he holds the knife upside down.
"To learn how to cook." He grunts as the knife slips off the onion and slides across the table. "My knife," he pouts and I pick it up and pass it back to him. "Thanks."
"Taehyung, stop eating the food." I instruct while slapping his hand back. He lets out a frustrated huff, but I don't pay him any mind as I work on my side of the counter. I spew curses as the rest of the room fills with people already boiling their stew. We are so behind.
"Slow down Jin before you cu-"
I hiss and shake my hand as the knife clatters on the floor. My eyes get watery when I see the blood seeping through my cut skin and by instinct I put my finger in my mouth and suck.
"Are you okay?" Sung Kyung asks as she taps my shoulder. She probably rushed over when she heard the commotion. I nod my head but don't remove my finger from my mouth. Out of my peripheral vision I see Namjoon gulp slightly and I find myself taking my finger out of my mouth. Unfortunately, I was born awkward so a small trail of saliva leaves with my finger. I feel my face heat up to a thousand degrees because it's not sexy at all...at least I don't think so.
However, I catch a few girls fanning themselves and Namjoon eyeing me more closely. "I need to wash my hands." I mumble and head to the sink by the side of our work station. I lather my hands with soup and wash them, gritting my teeth at the slight burn the soup leaves.
After, I return everything resumes like normal and I dismiss any weird thoughts I had of Namjoon eye raping me. Instead, I take the lead and make the stew for us all after grabbing a different knife. We're the last to finish, but I have no doubt ours came out the best because of me. I waste no more time and serve out the bowls. Taehyung leaps for joy when I hand his to him and starts digging in. I chuckle at him before slurping up my own broth.
"I love my cooking," I moan in my own world. By the end of the night, I say goodbye to Ken and link back up with Sung Kyung and am heading out the door when Namjoon stops me. I raise an eyebrow at him quizzically and wait for him to speak.
"Before you go. Can we talk for a minute?"
"Why?" I question since we have nothing to talk about. I try to dig up any conversation left unfinished but find none. He scratches the back of his head.
"Um...can we talk alone?" He adds and I sigh heavily.
"I'll wait for you outside." Sung Kyung chimes in and somehow finds the strength to drag Taehyung with her. The room is still pretty packed so Namjoon and I decide to leave and walk side by side down the hallway to another empty classroom. Namjoon closes the door behind me and I turn around to face him.
"Did I miss something?" He says randomly and I furrow my eyebrows.
"What?"
"That afternoon with Taehyung. You two seemed very...close. I asked him about it, but-"
I cut him off, "Close in what way?"
He kicks the floor, "At first I was thinking while I was gone you two hit it off nicely, but then I don't know the atmosphere after seemed strange. Did he say something to you?"
I put on my best disinterested face and relax my shoulders, "No, we just talked about his hometown." He narrows his eyes, but doesn't comment. "You must be reading too much into things. If something was up, we wouldn't have been so friendly to each other tonight."
"...I guess you're right." He exhales and chuckles, "Sorry about that!"
