Why is my life not lit?
I pull my blanket up closer and stuff my face with potato chips as I watch Friends on Netflix. I've watched every season before, but it's a classic and how I taught myself English so it'll always be close to my heart. I sigh, as I remember pausing and replaying the scenes over again to catch what each person was saying.
Good times...
I see the green light from my phone going off, meaning I got a notification so I check my phone. It's a message from Jin...
J: Can u meet me in Hongdae? Um...take the subway cause I've been drinking and I need u to be my driver.
I raise a brow because I didn't think he wanted anything to do with me. On top of that it's still day time and he's drunk already? Pausing Friends, I look at the time and see that it's already passed 4 pm and I probably won't get there until 5 or a little after 5. Hmmm...but it's Jin sooo...
I'll be there as soon as I can.
I close my laptop, throw on a pair of jeans and a clean shirt that I didn't put away yet from my pile of clothes that were laying on the edge of my bed. I ruffle my bed head in the mirror quickly and grab my wallet off my desk along with my phone that was on the charger. Once I lace up my black converse and put on my navy blue winter coat I am out the door and heading to the subway station.
During the whole subway ride, I couldn't stop thinking about how odd it is that Jin was drinking. Did something happen? He had a date with Nayeon today didn't he? Where is she? Hmmmm.... my mind wanders as I walk down the busy streets of Hongdae. The signs are already lit since it gets dark fast and it's passed five o' clock.
My phone vibrates in my pocket and I see it's a text from Jin.
J: Did you find the place I'm at yet?
He sent me the address, but maybe I'm wrong... I look up and see a place called Oppa with a red heart and arrow going through it and frown because it's where Jin said he was, but this is a love hotel.
Are you really here?
J: Yeah, room 5. Come find me~
I can practically hear the fit of giggles he probably broke into after sending this and I have to will myself not to get too excited. Why the hell are we meeting here and why the hell am I questioning it? Yeah, just roll with it...
I look to my right and then to my left to check who's paying attention to me. A couple stumbles into the double doors and I enter in after them. I watch as the woman smiles at the man in front of her while her...male companion books a room for a few hours. They stumble up the pink carpet stairs and I don't miss the man squeezing the girl's ass for a second. "Are you here to book a room?"
I turn my head to the man at the front desk, "Huh?"
"A room?" He points to the hourly prices and I just stand there for a few seconds contemplating my existence. He starts to get irritated so I shake my head.
"Uh, no. I'm meeting someone upstairs."
"What room?"
"5."
"Oh? A man booked that room-ohhhhh." My eyes narrow and my face hardens.
"And?"
His face flushes and he clears his throat, "Nothing. Enjoy your stay." I give him one final glare before walking up the pink carpet staircase that leads to a long hallway. Each wooden door has a number on them and I try not to barf from the tacky choice of pink wall paper with hearts and bows going down the hall. I walk down the hallway and try to block out the sounds of moaning and screaming and sigh in relief when I find room 5.
