Jin pov
Dad: Call me after your exams.
I press the power button on my phone and walk down the grey carpet. People are still flowing into the 200 occupancy lecture hall. The room has three sections of auditorium chairs descending on a steep slope. I settle into a chair on the edge of the middle section and put my back pack on the side of my chair. It's hard to get comfortable since everyone that normally skips decided this exam was important enough to come. Just great! Now, I have to worry about someone looking at my paper and feeling claustrophobic.
The tensions rise as our professor hands out the lengthy packets with the help of our teacher's assistant. They walk down the aisles, row by row, gradually handing out the packets. I lift the desk that's attached to the side up and place my packet and scantron onto it. I flex my fingers and grab a mechanical pencil out of my case, double checking that I have a good one. I made sure to pack multiple ones with erasers just in case.
I can't afford to make a mistake on this exam.
"Begin." My teacher instructs and there goes the flipping of papers. The exam isn't as hard as it would have been if I didn't study. I glance around the room and see some people that look as if they might piss themselves at any minute while others are calmly breezing by. I regain my focus and concentrate on my own work. The occasional cough or sneeze ticks me off, but I get over them quickly and wiz through the questions. At least 45 minutes in people start turning their test in and the pressure returns.
The usual questions start to enter my head at this point...
Were they rushing?
Did they miss anything?
Are these the people that didn't study?
Did they even check their work?
I shake my head and stare at the last 10 questions I have. Maybe, I'm just a slow reader...
Looking back to the front of the room, I make eye contact with my professor and shrink in my seat. Dang it! I hope he doesn't think I'm cheating now. I start to answer the questions again and once I'm finished, I go back through and recheck my answers. I end up changing about three of them before I'm satisfied. Once I'm complete, I pick up my back pack, turn in my test and am out the door.
There are a few students wandering around the hallways when I push the door open, but I don't pay them any mind as I exit the building. I take my phone out of my pocket, wanting to put my earphones in to listen to music and power it back up. When I see my dad's message again, I frown. There's even one from Nayeon too. I decide to look at hers first.
N: Hey, Seokjin! I was wondering if you wanted to hang out later this week maybe?
I twist my mouth to the side. I did say that I would, didn't I? I open up the keypad and start typing.
Yeah, how's this Sunday?
It's already Wednesday and I just finished my second to last midterm exam this week. I still have my exam on Friday that I wish I could get out of, but that's impossible...unless I want to lower my chances of passing. Sunday is the best day since I'm not too interested in fulfilling Nayeon's fantasies but a promise is a promise.
N: Yay! I was thinking we could see Fabricated City that just came out!
Hmmm.
Sure. I'll see you Sunday.
N: This is going to be so fun! ttyl, Seokjin!
I click out of the messages, not bothering to respond and sigh heavily. Nayeon is a really nice girl. Just not for me...
I adjust my backpack straps before I click open my contacts and dial my dad's number. It's three in the afternoon so I hope this phone call doesn't get him in trouble at work. The dial tone plays in the background and I frown right when his voicemail starts. I pull the phone away from my ear and glare at it. How do you want me to call, but don't answer your phone!?
I press the call button one more time and he picks up on the first ring. "Hey, sorry about that. I had to go out into the hall." I continue walking towards my dorm, but listen to the noise in the background of maybe a few people walking by that my dad greets.
"That's fine. What did you want to talk about?"
"I didn't get to call you any sooner because of work, but I wanted to check on you...you know see how you're holding up." He says and just from his tone I can tell my mom talked to him.
"Did mom put you up to this?"
"No, believe it or not. I was worried about you too." He clears his throat roughly, "Your mom might have come back the other week a little shaken up from her visit, but I meant to talk to you about things earlier."
I sigh and switch my phone to my other ear while I reach in my pocket for my earphones, "To answer your question. I'm great. I just finished my exam and I'm headed to my dorm to take a nap before I hang out with Sung Kyung later."
"Oh, Sung Kyung? She's a nice girl. Does she have a boyfriend yet?" I chuckle lightly now that the conversation is on someone other than me.
"Nope. Still single and not ready to mingle." There's a small pause on his end and I get a little worried. "Dad?"
"Better hope she doesn't like you." He laughs and I involuntarily scrunch my face in disgust.
"No, just no. Why would you even say that? She's like my sister."
"I'm just putting it out there. She doesn't know you're gay so it could happen." I roll my eyes.
"Not gay."
"Jin."
"Dad." He grumbles.
"You shouldn't make your mother cry. She makes me listen to her all night long talk about feelings." He states. "I have to get back to work. I love you."
"Loveyoutoo." I mumble before hanging up with a small blush. Geez, why are my parents so dramatic and corny? I put my earphones in and blast Jay Park on the way to my dorm. His songs make me wish for summer, I swear.
No homo...but I want me some Jay Park.
A/N Another update! Woohoo! I hope you all enjoyed! Sorry for the wait, but my summer job takes up time and I was also thinking about the plot for future chapters. Until next time, deuces my unsuspecting Burritos~
