Chapter 11

Jerome's POV

Mitch and I record all day. Jenny and I curl up in bed and she shakes.

"What's wrong? Are you cold?" I say, squeezing her tighter.

"I have a problem,"she says.

"What is it? I can help, surely." She turn around to face me now.

"I think I'm too young to be married with a daughter."

"What do you mean? Do you want a divorce or something?!"

"No. I love you. I don't want a divorce."

"Good. Do you want to adopt Lily or something?"

"No..."

"Then what's your problem?"

"What I'm trying to tell you is..."

"What?"

"I...kinda want another kid. I like the process. Make love, get pregnant, push her out, happy family."

"Really?" I say, shifting my position.

"Yes. But not now. Not yet. I want it later in life. I just...uh. Why is life so complicated? Why am I even on this planet? I suck at life. I'm useless. And it's a miracle that I actually have some friends and a husband and daughter. But no mom anymore," her voice cracks."No loyal brother."

"Sshh. It's okay. You were put in this world because you are strong enough to live it."

"No I'm not, Jerome! I'm weak!" she says, sitting up suddenly.

"No. You're wrong. You're perfect." I start playing Fuckin Perfect by Pink.

"Jerome, I can't handle this! I can't handle my life. I can't be here."

"What?!"

"Jenny, you can't kill yourself!"

"I can do what I want!" She sprints out the door. I run after her and yell for Lilac and Mitch.

"What's going on?!" Lilac says.

"Jenny! Hurry! Before she kills herself!" I say.

"WHAT?!" she says. She suddenly sprints faster than you would ever suspect. She jumps off of the balcony, miraculously lands on her feet and tackles Jenny. She pins Jenny. I pick Jenny up and bring her into my room with me. Lilac and Mitch follow. We have a long talk with her that suicide isn't an option. It's a stupid thing to do. You can always pull through the hard times. Anyone can.
