I was nervous as hell because we were doing our exit interviews before we graduate and receive our chef coats. The last two years in culinary school have been crazy, but I finally made it to the end of my program. Avari Anderson-Watkins! That's me I said standing and following the receptionist into the room. All of my professors were sitting a large conference table facing a single chair at the end of the table. Please have a seat! How are you today Ms. Watkins? Extremely nervous, I've never sat in a room with all of you together. No need to be nervous it's just an exit interview. So you are at the end of your program and we are conducting this interview in an effort to obtain your thoughts on the program and get your feedback on your experience here. I understand.
Ms. Watkins were you satisfied with your education here at Le Cordon Bleu? Professor Cheatham when I first arrived here I was extremely nervous maybe more so than I am right now. To be in the presence of some of the world's greatest chefs, was an honor and I didn't take it lightly either. To say that I've enjoyed my experience would be an understatement. I've lived and learned from this experience and I will take all of the lessons with me into my next phase of my life.
Speaking of next phases in life what are your long term goals after leaving Le Cordon Bleu? I have a lot of goals, one of which is to attend a university and obtain my bachelors in journalism. The ultimate goal is to merge my love of cooking with my love of writing and write cooks books and maybe one day put out my own food magazine. Journalism is an interesting second choice, most would go for business, in hopes of opening a restaurant. You want to take a different route and pursue a career in journalism. I understand that and I've thought about pursuing business, I just believe that I would be greater served pursuing journalism. My parent's own businesses and quite frankly I don't know if I can handle everything they go through on a daily basis.
Hmm they said looking at one another. The interview went on for a little while longer. They asked what I thought of the program and how it could be improved. They also asked more on my goals and future ambitions. Well Ms. Watkins I believe that is all of our questions for you. Do you have any for us? No questions but I do want to say thank you, thank you for believing in my ability as a chef and pushing me to achieve everything that I'd ever dreamed of. It's not every day that we meet a student who comes in before the professor and leaves after the professor. A student that takes critiques and criticisms to heart and improves on them.
Le Cordon Bleu was privileged to have you as a student Avari and I believe I speak for everyone on this committee when I say that you were a great addition to the Le Cordon Bleu family. Thank you! No problem we only hope that in the future you'll think about coming back and joining us on the staff. Wait you want me to be a teacher? Yes we believe you have what it takes to teach on our staff and when you are finished with your degree at Columbia we'd like to extend a job offer to you as an Adjunct to teach our incoming classes. Oh my god I said covering my face.
They were offering me a job, that doesn't happen to anyone. Like no one point blank period. Thank you I said standing to shake their hands. No problem you are definitely a rare student to find. Yes you are Ms. Watkins when you finish we look forward to that call Professor Green said. Oh don't worry you'll receive it I said before walking out.
Wow a job, I said to myself as I left the building.

Whew I exhaled as we walked through the airport. Why you sighing like that Jay said holding my hand? I don't know I am just nervous because we're in New York. Lisa we've been in New York plenty of times before. Yeah but now with this many kids, I just don't want anything to happen. Babe we got security and we fixed that by splitting up the kids. Ro and Ti are already here with the twins and Chase. We got Lucy, Nicholas, and Santana. Tron, Charli, Nia, and Lo are already here so no worries. Yeah you right I don't know why I am nervous. You always do this when they about to do something big Lisa, like you didn't think they could do it or that you'd be around to see it.
