Chapter 17

Toni and Sam exchanged glances and both disregarded Pratty's comment. Sam cleared his throat and asked, "So, Toni? Can you come?"

Toni wanted to go because just like what Sam and John said, they haven't seen each other in a while and it's always fun to catch up. But she promised Paul to chat with him once she finished taping.

"I'm sorry guys. Hindi ako makakasama. Magcha-chat kami ni Paul mamaya eh," Toni replied, almost hesitantly. 

Sam's features distorted into a slight frown. The rejection and hearing Paul's name made his blood boil a bit. He had never felt so jealous like this before and this just proves how real his feelings were towards Toni. The excitement in his eyes seeped away and instantly changed into hurt and remorse. But he wasn't giving up just yet. He mustered back his composure and laid his eyes back at Toni.

"How about tomorrow before our GGV taping? I'm so sure John would be happy to come and bring Isabel with him. Di ba, Pratty?" Sam insisted and glared towards John's direction when he  brought up his name.

John puckered his brows at Sam's continuous urging  to concur with him. Sam's persistent demand to convince Toni to hang with them was getting a little bit strange and out of the blue. 'Bakit kaya gustong gusto isama nitong si Sam si Toni?'

"Sorry bro pero I have other plans bukas. Kayo na lang ni Toni," John said against Sam's will and Sam, in return, paid him a glower. John bulged his eyes at him, telling him that he's done with swimming with the tide. The word 'please' was written all over Sam but John wasn't giving in to it.  

Sam sighed inwardly at the resignation of his friend to help him, and concentrated back to Toni. Discovering that John couldn't come, Toni came to a decision not to go as well. The last thing she wanted to do was go somewhere alone with Sam because she was sure that the media's going to make up allegations about it. Even empowethough she knew very well that it would just be a friendly date, she couldn't ignore the fact that there are people who could make false judgements about it. It would and could appear as a sinful and wrong act because she's an engaged woman and she didn't want something like that to happen. 

"I have other plans din tomorrow, Sam. Sorry," Toni lied, reluctant to tell him the real reason why she couldn't come because it would be so awkward.

Sam felt his heart shatter into pieces but this just elevated his determination to persuade Toni. Hmm.. How about after GGV taping or on Sunday?" He directed it towards both Pratty and Toni in a pushy voice and then, he flashed a smile; his trademark smile which usually melts people instantly and the smile which people couldn't say no to.

He also needed to induce John to go because he knew that if John opted not to go, Toni wouldn't come along.

 John and Toni made a brief eye contact, stunned by Sam's adamant determination. John was getting uncomfortable with Sam's weird actions and so, he decided to steal him away and confront him about his sudden  odd doggedness.
