Recap from last chapter:
Toni locked her bedroom door behind her. She just couldn't keep a promise. Her tempting subconscious was telling her to open Sam's gift. She seated at the end of her bed and observed the big red box. Her eyebrows scrunched in curiosity. She couldn't take it anymore. The voices inside her head was getting more and more unbearable. She gave in. Her subconscious jumped triumphantly. She untangled the knot that the ribbon had made. She carefully unwrapped it from the box. Before opening the lid, she took a deep, audible breath. She opened it little by little, until the box was completely uncovered. Just as she saw what's inside it, she raised her hand to cover her mouth which shaped into letter 'O'. Her eyes fixated and glared on what's inside, trying to take in how much it meant to her.
"Oh my goodness!

Inside was another box but it was smaller. She flicked the lid open and found a piece of gaudy, shimmering and extravagant necklace with a simple diamond pendant. It was the necklace she truly wanted to buy when she and Sam went to Sydney, Australia for the 19th Grand Philippine Fiesta Kultura. It was luxuriously expensive and she thought it would be practical if she just save the money that she would use to buy it. Not that she didn't have the money to buy it, she was just being practical about it. Her mouth was still hanging low as her fingers brushed against the sparkling diamond. She grabbed it gently and raised it up in the air so she could take a good look. When she was placing the necklace cautiously back in the box, she discovered a paper nicely pleated inside. She unfolded it and read what's inside:
Dear Cee,
Happy Birthday!
I just want to thank you for everything. I know there are some things that I have done in the past and I'm really really sorry. I'm sorry for everything. I'm truly and deeply sorry. I'm so happy that we have already cleared things up and that we remained close as friends. :) I'm glad that we're working together again. To be honest, I really missed working with you.
So yeah, I hope you liked my thank you gift, apology gift and of course, my birthday gift for you.
Happy Birthday again, Toni!
-Sam
She put the letter back where she took it. The smile that was plastered on her face when she first saw what's inside never vanished but it broadened up to her ears after reading the letter. Just like Sam, she was also glad that things went back to normal after they cleared things up just like when they first met in PBB. Yes, they talk and they have done a few projects after what happened in the past, but there's still that small crack in her heart that she didn't know how to mend. Finally, now, her heart was fixed. She was whole again.
