Chapter 26
While they were nibbling on the food dished up on their plates, Sam couldn't help but study Toni's features. Even though she had a smear of sauce on her lower lip, he couldn't help but be captivated by her charm.
Toni noticed this and contracted her brows. "Bakit ganyan ka makatingin? May dumi ba ko sa mukha?" She asked while rubbing some parts of her face, getting conscious.
He cracked a smile and gently cupped her chin with his hand. Then, he brushed her lower lip with his thumb and said, "Meron. Pero you still look beautiful like always."
Her breathing hitched in her throat and her eyes followed the course where his thumb travelled on her lower lip. Instantly, her face heated up and went as red as a beet root. Breathing got harder when his smile stretched across his face and his eyes stared right through her. Gathering all her willpower to resist his charismatic looks and gestures, she drank the water from the glass in one go.
"Ikaw talaga Sam! Kung anu-ano mga sinasabi mo. Parang kanina lang sa GGV. Ikaw talaga!" She remarked while slicing the beef on her plate.
"What? I'm just being honest, Toni," he countered. He leaned his elbows on the table and a smirk played around his lips.
"Eh ano yung sinasabi mong crush mo ako? May mga nalalaman ka pa talagang ganon, Samuel! Kalokaaa! Puma-publicity stunt ka ha."
She said before bringing the slice of meat on her fork to her mouth.
He smiled broadly in return. "Like what I said. I was just being honest, Toni. It was definitely not for publicity. You know naman na crush talaga kita even before pa di ba? You're my first crush pa nga sa showbiz eh." He paused then continued in a humorous and teasing voice, "Is there something wrong with admiring you, Celestine Cruz Gonzaga?"
He settled on telling her that she was his crush rather than confessing that he actually loves her because saying the former would be a lot to take in. And this wasn't the time for that.
She started coughing and her breath rasped in her throat as she almost choked because of what Sam had said. "Tubig please!" she cried out. She raised her hands on the air and pointed her finger at the glass pitcher, gesturing at Sam to pass it to her.
She poured just enough water on her glass before swigging it all down to get rid of the blockage in her throat.
"Are you okay?" Sam asked worriedly at the opposite side of the table.
Toni nodded in reply before taking a deep breath. "At talagang full name ha. Ewan ko sayo, Samuel. Kung anu-ano na naman yang nasa isip mo. Talaga nga nemenggg. Kumbaga. Ewan ko ba talaga sayooo."
