(Chapter 35)
*Alyssa's POV*
My heart thumped as I tasted bile in my throat. "What?" I croaked in disbelief. "There's a man with a gun and he's claiming that he's going to blow up the plane" Adrian said trying to sound calm but his voice shook. "And-And he's got a parachute or something so he'll save himself and we'll...?" I stuttered, my head feeling dizzy, still unable to grasp onto the reality of things. "I don't think he's planning to get off." Adrian's eyes were wide and glossy, in a daze. "Oh. My. Fuck." I swore, I'd never sworn this bad in my life. Now was a start. I choked back tears and tried to steady my breathing but my poor attempt was for naught. I peaked above my seat, fear balanced with curiosity. There was a man with flaming red hair and a tan holding a gun and saying some inaudible words to a frightened air hostess, his hand gripping her wrist as she squirmed in protest. "Adrian" I swallowed and leaned back in my seat, tears fighting to fall out. Don't cry, Alyssa. Please don't. "Hey, hey. It'll be alright. Maybe-Maybe he just wants money. We-We'll figure it out okay, Alyssa?" He fought to keep his voice from wavering as he gently caressed my cheek to comfort me. Alyssa I noted not Cinnamon. I can't believe I'm saying this but I think I'd rather he called me Cinnamon, It would've eased me more. I felt a little turbulence as the plane was descending. "But how can we descend? This plane is a threat to the ground if we... If we blow up." I stammered, feeling my panic rise. "I think fuel maybe. Either way... We might not make it." Adrian said seriously and I squeezed my eyes shut. Oh shit, this is all my fault, we shouldn't have done this.
"Look at me" He whispered and I forced my eyes open. The man had come nearer to us and was pointing his gun at a lady who had tear stained cheeks. "Oh god, he's going to kill her!" I couldn't help the tears that ran down my cheeks. "Look at me" Adrian ordered and cupped my chin in his hands. "If we don't.. If we don't survive I-I just need you to know that.." His voice trailed and I placed my hand on his shoulder to continue. "I love you" He whispered and the tears stopped along with my heart. Every part of my body felt numb as my brain heard his words but did not process them. What could I say? How could I tell him. 'I love you' was not enough to express how I felt about him. I tried to speak but no sound came out so I just pull him in a hug and buried my face in his neck. He stroked my back lightly as I peered over at the man, his finger was on the trigger and the lady's eyes shut, her breaths shaking as she hugged herself. I shut my eyes, desperate not to see what would happen as my tears poured down my cheeks in rivers, wetting Adrian. The Hijacker pulled the trigger.
There was a loud pop but nothing happened. Everyone was silent and I pulled away from Adrian confused. Was that gun... A toy? The man grinned and the woman wiped her tears slowly, cautiously and in disbelief. "HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY EVERYONE!" He announced and the whole plane stared at him as if he was delusional. Before anything else could happen, the plane touched the ground. "It was a prank" Adrian stared in disbelief. The silence then erupted into laughs of relief. "Shit, it's April first! I forgot!" I smiled and then frowned. How could that man do this? He could've given someone a heart attack! Was it even legal? Was the pilot and staff in on the prank? Adrian and I didn't stay to find out. We grabbed our things and got off the plane, walking as fast away as possible and in silence. I smiled again in relief and suddenly felt stupid for the tears that had stained my cheeks.
We made it to the exit without talking to each other and Adrian hailed a cab and opened the door for me. I sat inside in the back seat and looked back but he didn't get in, he slammed the door. Hard. Confused, I rolled the window down. "What are you doing?" "I think I'll go separately." He said firmly, his steely voice shocked me and he turned his back to me, walking away. He didn't look back. My taxi started the engine and then pulled out. I sat back, staring at the seat in front of me when I realized what I had done, or rather, what I hadn't done. I didn't tell him I loved him back. Regret triggered the tears to fall and they stained my cheeks once more.

I paid the driver and took my bags and went to the doorstep. I fiddled in my pocket and pulled out the keys and unlocked the door stepping inside. Once I shut the door I turned around to find my parents staring at me furiously, they're arms crossed. Crap. I think swearing would become a daily routine for me.
