(11 YEARS LATER)
*Alyssa's POV*
"MUMMY MUMMY MUMMY!" I groan and force my eyes open as someone snatches off my blanket. I feel Adrian's arms pull me back into him as he moans half asleep. "Wake up, wake up" A child's high pitched voice nags and I groggily turn on my back and rub my eyes. "Five.More.Minutes." Adrian begs his eyes still closed. I smile slightly and peck his nose, and he opens his eyes and shoots me a lopsided smile. "Morning, " "Morning, sunshine" I reply and sit up as my four year old daughter, Venice, jumps into my arms. I chuckle and loosen her grasp. "Happy birthday darling, isn't it a bit early?" I hop off the bed, still wearing Adrian's over sized T-shirt, and hold her hand as I lead her to the door, giving Adrian his much wanted five minutes of sleep."Mummy it's my birthday. 10th August" She states with an 'Are you serious?' look and I laugh quietly.
I walk down the stairs, still holding Venice's petite hands. I'm now fully awake when our Golden Retriever, Cinnamon(II), (named after me, duh), Comes padding towards us, licking my toes. "Cinna!" Venice plants a kiss on his nose. "I'll make breakfast, honey. Go up and change from your PJs okay?" I tell Venice who nods happily, twirling her locks of hazel brown hair and fidgeting with her white flowery pyjamas. "Get Cinna ready for bathtime" I pat Cinnamon(II) and then walk over to the kitchen, to make pancakes for the two of the most important people in the world for me.

My phone rings as I clear the table and pick it up. "Hey mum" "Where's my adorable granddaughter??" My mother demands and I chuckle and tell her to hold on as I walk up the steps and into Venice's lilac room. Adrian is there in a suit, helping Venice make her bed. "Darling, Grandma wants to wish you happy birthday" I whisper and hand her my phone that she holds to her ear with both hands, giggling. She changed into a cowboy outfit with her favourite hat (She's one of the kids that hate being a princess, screw stereotypes).
As Venice babbles to my mother, Adrian walks over to me and kisses my mouth lightly and I wrap my arms around his neck and exhale. "I'm totally not finishing any work today" I say. "I have a meeting today, I PROMISE I'll be back for the birthday party." He touches his forehead to mine and I pout. "Its Saturday" "I know, it won't be long, promise. It's just a huge opportunity" He reassures me even though I don't need to be. I nod and kiss his cheek. "Don't wreck the car while you're at it" I smirk and he rolls his eyes, giving my hand a squeeze before he goes downstairs and I hear the door click shut.
*
I jump as I hear a balloon pop loudly and all the children errupt into giggles. The doorbell rings and I make my way through the playing children, strewn ribbons, gift wraps and balloons to get to the door. "Hey, Aly!" Kira says shrilly with a grin. Trystan's arm is wrapped around her shoulders and he wears a matching smile. "Aunt Kira and Uncle Trystan are here, Venice!" I call out and she comes racing to the door and hugs both of them before taking off again and disappearing into the crowd of her friends.
"Adrian's in the kitchen" I tell Trystan as I close the door. "Alright, see you around babe" He plants a kiss on Kira's forehead and then leaves while Kira goes to help distribute slices of the Rainbow birthday cake to everyone. My phone chirps and I unlock it to find a message from Sydney.
Sydney McKedna: Wish the birthday girl for me ♡
Alyssa Skyler: Of course, I wish you could be here though, kids make so much of noise
Sydney McKedna: Me too. But hey, Australia is great! You guys should come visit. I'm dying for you to meet my boyfriend, Rick.
Alyssa Skyler: We'll come soon, promise. I'll catch you later though, birthday parties are exhausting
Sydney McKedna: Haha have fun bye xx
I pocket my phone and enter the kitchen, away from the chatter of the children. Trystan and Adrian are talking and smile when I enter. Adrian hands me a Starbucks coffee and I gladly sip it. Kira enters with cake all over her frilly floral dress. "I hate kids" She mutters when I shoot her a questioning look and Adrian snickers while Trystan lets out a snort, earning a light punch from his wife. "You can wear one of my dresses" I offer and she leaves, grumbling.
I let out a relieved sigh as we walk out of the kitchen and find the children peacefully sitting and playing 'Passing the Parcel' as Venice talks off the ear of a red haired boy who sits next to her. Adrian laces an arms around my waist and I lean into him as we watch, Trystan picks up a fallen chocolate from the piñata and I roll my eyes. Everything is perfect and definitely not how I would've thought my life would have turned out, 12 years ago when the bad boy crashed into my mother's car.
