Chapter 20- What is it with these tunnels?!
" Oh shit," Uncle Joel SAID. " Run!"
Jumping into a huge hole, we heard the soldiers above us report they had 3 soldiers down.
Squeezing through a square hole that was used as a way to get out, we came out to find a long stretch of land, used as a sort of " No man's land".
Thank god it was night, or we would have gotten dropped, fast.
" Alright, Ellie," Tess said, as she looked right at Ellie and me. " When I give the signal, we run. Now, run."
All four of us sprinted to a nearby broke down, vandalized car.
Then, we went left and jumped into what seemed like a trench, but it didn't have any walls.
" Stay away from the lights." Tess whispered.
The way we were taking lead us into a small tunnel, then to an area with bigger trenches, and this time there were soldiers, A LOT of soldiers.
Surprisingly, we got through without me firing off one shot.
" We're not out of the woods yet, keep close," Uncle Joel reminded us. " There's more ahead."
We gunned it to a terribly run down, building where we maneuvered around the soldiers and finally got out of there.
