Chapter 49- I'm good
" Alright," Dad said as he started walking towards us again. " Let's continue the tour."
Maria leads the way, trying not to spill the beans just yet.
" Earl?" She asked one of her guys before she started waling up the few stairs that were in front of her. " Why are you here? I thought you were supposed to head back this morning?"
" Still waiting on Houser and the rest of the boys to reave me." Earl told Maria.
" We'll be fine... Just go home to your family."
" It's just a few more hours. I'll tough through it."
" Alright. Take it easy."
Right as we entered a building, Maria got called by radio to come down to the control room and watch Steve start the turbine up.
" I'll do it," Dad volunteered. " Take the girls to get something to eat."
" I'll go with him," Uncle Joel told us. " Ellie, stay close to them."
" Joel..." Ellie started.
" Come on, Ellie." Maria said after she tapped her arm. " Let's give the boys some space."
" I'm sending Tommy over," Maria said into the radio. " Stand by."
( Joel's P.O.V.)
" This will be the sixth time they have tried to get that turbine going again," Tommy told me as we headed to the control room. " We have been here for just a week, but it feels like forever."
Tommy walked over to a bunk, and pulled out a picture and gave it to me.
" I just thought you should have that," Tommy told me. " I went back to Texas last year, and found it."
" I'm good," I told him, as I handed the picture of Sara and me back to him.
" You sure..."
" I said I'm good." I told him.
" I'll keep it for you." He said as he put it back in the duffle bag, and we continued.
