Chapter 21- Rain isn't camo

" Yeah, this looks right." Tess said as we walked into a basement of a building.

Going through a very low hole in the wall, Uncle Joel stopped us.

" Hold up, soldiers."

Between the mutters of the soldier's, Uncle Joel whispered that he doesn't think they see us, and to stick to the walls.

Entering the other half of the building, I found a lot of things that we needed.

" Crap, I'm out of space." I whispered. " Hey, Tess, you have any room in your pack?"

" I do." Ellie said.

" Don't worry about the weight, you're just carrying some bandages and batteries."

She turned around, and I started packing her backpack.

" Are we safe?" Ellie asked.

" No," Tess said. " Their still around."

" Well be fine, as long as we stick to the shadows." I told her as I zipped her backpack up.

After I scavenged, we followed Uncle Joel threw another pipe that acted as a mini tunnel, which landed us to a waist-deep square pool of water.

As a vehicle drove over the top of the storm drain we were currently in, Ellie mentioned that she couldn't swim.

" It looks like it's only waist deep," I told her as I entered the water. " And fucking cold."

Ellie grinned as she stepped into the water behind me.

Luckily I was right, and we exited the drain without anyone getting shot, or drowned.

" Alright, they have to be gone by now." I said as I sat down in a big piece of cement.

" Just keep your guards up, they might just be still out there." Tess said.

" What's the plan after we drop her off?" I asked. " We goin' back to the quarantine?"

" Maybe." Uncle Joel said after looking at Tess.
