Chapter 16

Chapter 16-  A new friend

" Bullshit, I'm not going with-"

" Ellie..." The Queen started. 

" How do you know them?" Ellie asked. 

" I was close with his brother, Tommy. He said if I was ever in a jam, I could rely on him." 

Then, she looked at me.

" Was that before or after he left  his little girl for your little militia group?" Uncle Joel asked 

" He was a good man." 

" Go back in time and tell him that." I argued. 

" Quill, be careful," Tess told me. " The military is going to be everywhere." 

" I will." I told her.

" Marlene...." Ellie started. 

" No more talking," the Queen said. " You'll be fine." 

We parted ways.

" Whoa...." Ellie said as she looked at the dead body's that were on the street. " I heard the shooting, but...what happened?" 

" Fireflies," I told her. " Come on." 

" Attention." A female voice said. 

" Yadda yadda," I said as I looked at the map. " Shut ya trap before I bash your skull in." 

We walked down the stairs and went to our right and entered the tunnel. 

I felt a vibration and stopped in my tracks. 

Once it passed, we were on our way again. 

We walked up some more stairs and entered a gated area. 

I picked the lock and we entered. 

I looked up and saw a fire escape that was missing a few stairs. 

" Where are we going?" Ellie asked. 

" Up there," I told her as I went to go get the trash bin that was mentioned on the map. " Hang on a second." 

I retrieved it and made it into a step stool. 

I was the first one up, followed by Ellie. 

" So, this tunnel." Ellie started. " You use it to smuggle things?" 

" I guess." I answered as I climbed the rest of the stairs. 

We continued to talk as we got closer and closer to the room we were going to stay in until Uncle Joel and Tess got back. 

" Make yourself comfortable," I told her as I shut the door behind her. " I have a feeling we're going to be here for a while."
