Chapter 56- Sorry about shooting you Bugs.

Winter

( Ellie's P.O.V.)

" This will not last very long." I said as I put the arrow that I just shot a rabbit with back into my backpack with my bow.

I tied it up with the rope that was around Callus, then whipped my head to the right to see a buck munching on some grass a few yards away.

" You'll just startle him." I said as I tied him up.

I'm guessing the dear heard me because it started trotting away.

I tracked it back down and fired an arrow.

The buck ran off with my arrow in its left side.

Following the blood trail I caused, I shot it again, and again it ran off with my arrow in it.

The blood leads me to a small area with a few scattered buildings.

I found the dear's carcass a few inches away from a cabin that was falling apart.

I drew my bow and arrow, just in case the area had infected or humans.

Just as I lowered my guard, I heard a twig snap and I pointed my bow and arrow in the direction the sound came from.

" Come out!" I yelled.

" Hello...we just want to talk." An older man said as he walked out from behind a tree, followed by a younger man.

" Any sudden moves and I put one right between your eyes," I told them. " Ditto for your buddy-boy over there. What do you want?"

" Um," The older man started. " My name is David, and this here's my friend James."

I could see that James nodded.

" Were from a larger group. Women and children, who are all very, very hungry"

" So am I," I told them. " Women and children, all very hungry too."

" Well, maybe we could trade you for some of that meat there. What do you need? Water, clothes, food-"

" Medicine!" I yelled. " Do you have any antibiotics?"

" We do, back at the camp. Your welcome to follow us-"

" He goes, you stay," I ordered. " He comes back with what I need, the deer's yours. Anyone else shoes up-"

" You put one between my eyes." The older man said, interrupting me.

" That's right."

" Two bottles of penicillin and a syringe. Make it fast."

James slowly backed up, then darted off.

" I'll take that rifle." I said.

" Of course." He said, then slid it over me.

I quickly put up my bow and arrow, but I was tackled by David a few seconds later, and he knocked me out with the but of the rifle.

I woke up to the sound of crying.

I looked around, seeing that I was trapped I a fenced in place.

Looking over to my right, I noticed the one that was crying...was Quilla!
