Chapter 38- Quit being an ass and say thank you
" Through here." Uncle Joel told us, as he cracked open an elevator shaft. " Come on Ellie, your going first."
Uncle Joel helped Ellie up, and I jumped down while Ellie lowered down a latter.
When Uncle Joel was halfway up the latter, the elevator moved a little.
As soon as Uncle Joel climbed up, the elevator gave away and I found myself in freezing cold water three seconds later.
" Quilla!" Uncle Joel called down.
" I'm OK!" I yelled up. " I'll try to find a way back up there!"
I did find a way back up, and the place was covered in spores and infected.
I made it out and returned to where I saw Uncle Joel and Ellie.
They weren't there.
A gunshot interrupted my thoughts.
I darted in the direction it came from and walked into a fight between Ellie and Uncle Joel.
" What the hell happened?" I asked as my eye found a dead person on the ground near Uncle Joel.
" She almost blew my goddamn head off." Uncle Joel said as he got up.
" Two more seconds under that water and you would have died." Ellie pointed out.
I exhaled. " You know that I would have done the same thing. And it doesn't matter whether I did it or not. She saved your life. Quit being an ass and just say thank you."
He turned around and we continued our way through the building, and a few minutes later, Ellie got her apology.
