All the people that were on guard started watching for more infected.
" We're clear!" A woman yelled.
" What the hell are you doing here anyway? I thought I would find you in Jackson."
" Been trying to bring the plant back to life."
" We had it working before," Maria said. " But one of the turbines went south."
" We had electric, Joel...." Dad started. " Well get it started again."
" You guys have electric fences?" I asked.
" Yeah. They help keep the infected a bay."
" Your giant bug zapper might be busy for a while."
" No way," Ellie said, as she stopped. " You guys have horses."
" We got a whole lot of em'." Dad said as Ellie and I started petting it.
" Hey, Tommy!" One of his men yelled. " Come and give me a hand with this!"
" Sorry," Dad said. " I'll be right back."
" Have you two ever rode one?"
" I have." Ellie said as she continued to pet the horse.
" When have you rode a horse?" Uncle Joel asked her.
" A soldier gave me a few lessons back in the zone."
" You know if you want, we can take him riding later?" Maria said.
" Really? That'd be awesome."
