Marco walked out of the closet, dressed in his Mewni formal attire. Black and grey suit with his knee high boots and crown.

"Do you always have to get dressed fancy? It's just dinner."

"Well on Mewni this is what I'd wear to dinner with my parents."

"Are you on Mewni?"

"Well no but-"

"Then loose the suit. I have an outfit for you."

The duo walked to the stairs, properly dressed and ready to face her family.

"Alright remember, let me do all the talking. I'm sure everyone will be to busy stuffing their faces with food so it shouldn't be a problem."

She chuckled and looked at his tie.

"That's not how you do it, kid. Here let me help you."

She walked over to him, fixing his tie. He examined her face. She looked pretty tonight. Light makeup and some loose curls that fell gracefully. He glanced down to her lips.

"Star can we talk jus-"

"No time for that. Your tie looks great now come on."

They looped arms and began walking down the stairs. Everyone glanced up at them, smiling or "aw"-ing.

"Hey where's mom and dad?"

Star asked her aunt Etheria as they made their way to the bottom of the stairs.

"Their still setting the table in the dining room. It's been 10 minutes now, I'm starving!"

"Oh!! ahem.... how much food did you make?"

She leaned over, whispering to Marco.

"We made tons! Why do you think it took so long? It took us hours to make a feast as big as we did."

He whispered back. Star nodded and shrugged.

"It couldn't have been that big, right?"

15 minutes have passed now. Star and Marco sat on the stairs, sighing and waiting. She got up.

"I'll go see what the wait is."

"Okay everyone! Dinner is served!"

Everyone rushed to the dining, shoving and pushing around Star. Marco got up and grabbed her hand, as they walked into the dining room.

"Some people are just hungry aren't they?"

As they made their way toward the dining room, Marco stopped and stared in awe.

"Holy shit.."

Star smiled over at him.

"Welcome to the dining room, your highness."

As the tall double doors opened, a long table, FILLED with food took place in the middle of the room. There were candles, and fall decorations everywhere, followed by a seat for everyone in the house.

"This room looks just like my dining room back on Mewni! Just a tiny bit smaller."

"A tiny bit? Jeez. Must be a huge room."

Marco followed Star to the end of the table, and he glanced at a tinier, but nice table.

"What's that tiny table for?"

"That's the kids table! I was sitting there a few years back, but now look?"

She and Marco took their seats by her parents.

"I'm an adult, now."

She said excitedly. Her mother tapped her glass and stood up.

"I'd like to make a little toast before we eat."

Everyone raised their glasses. Marco looked around and raised his.

"To another great Family Gathering. To this wonderful family and to my beautiful daughter. We're all proud of you and your journey, honey."

She smiled slightly.

"Thanks, mom."

"And to the newest face at our table! We haven't known you as long as we'd like, but I can tell you make my daughter very happy."

Marco looked up, realizing she was talking about him. He flashed an innocent smile.

"To this wonderful day, and to Star's boyfriend, Marco."

Everyone raised their glasses and drank what was in them. Star caught her breath, lowering her glass.

"Let's eat!"

AFTER DINNER

After everyone ate, Star helped her dad clear the table.

"Really great dinner, dad. It was delicious."

She smiled, clearing the plates and silverware.

"Thank you, sweetie."

He smiled, walking out to the kitchen. Marco peeked his head in.

"Need some help there, baby?"

She glanced up at him, rolling her eyes.

"Not from you, thanks."

She tried to walk passed him but he blocked her way, almost making her drop the plates in her hands.

"Come on, i can help."

"I don't need your help!"

He stared her down, looking into her eyes.

"You sure about that?"

He smirked. She looked up, staring back into his eyes.

"M-Move out my way!"

"Fine, fine."

He stepped aside as she made her way to the kitchen. He followed.

"Are you like a lost puppy or something?"

She asked annoyed, as she set the dishes into the sink. He leaned against the counter.

"When do we leave?"

"Uh let's see..."

She looked up, thinking.

"A few more days? Why?

"No reason. Pack your bags cause we're leaving tomorrow morning."

Marco turned and walked upstairs to their room. Star stood there and scoffed.

"I'm sorry, WHAT?"

She followed him up, angrily.

"You don't get to make the plans around here, I do! And I say we're staying until it's actually time to go!"

"Star I don't want an argument. I just wanna make a quick stop before we go back to that horrible place!"

"You mean school?"

Marco rolled his eyes, getting his stuff together.

"Yes whatever! Now go hurry and pack your shit! Then it's off to bed for us! We've got a big mystery to solve.."
