Chapter 19: Dirty Little Secrets (part 2)

"What do you mean?"

Marco sat up.

"Some doctors came and examined me. They said it was something they haven't seen in a long time. But..."

Her face softened and she grew sad.

"Star?"

"I couldn't function... with the doctors telling me I was sick, and you sitting here? I had to figure out something. So I... went to Glossaryck. And he took me to Mewni."

Marco's eyes grew wide.

"YOU traveled to Mewni!? HOW!?"

"Glossaryck is a magic tiny blue man. We have our ways!"

"You used my scissors didn't you?"

He asked unamused. She nodded in response.

"But anyway. After what felt like eternity, we just decided to see your mom and dad."

His eyes widened again.

"Y-You.... you met my parents??"

Star blushed and nodded again.

"Yeah. Their very nice. I was gonna tell them about what's been happening. But I couldn't without them taking you away or something. So I... didn't say anything until I knew for sure what was wrong."

He sat up, intrigued. Concerned by the look on Star's face.

"I have a disease.. "

"A disease?"

He repeated.

"That's what we call it when someone is really sick with something.. a disease."

She paused.

"I'm still not sure what it is but the doctors say it's similar to a cold. Just really really.. really bad."

He gulped nervously.

"Does anyone else know?"

"No.. no one. But.. there's also something... else."

Marco threw his arms in the air.

"Ohh what now Star!? What could be worse than- OW!"

He gripped his side and fell back in pain. Star stood up.

"Ug.."

"Are you okay!? What happened?"

"I don't know... e-everything hurts."

Star rubbed his face.

"Just rest, Marco. I'll come back in the morning and... we'll talk more."

"About what?"

She shook her head and flashed a fake smile.

"Just rest, wild man."

His eyes closed slowly.

The next day it snowed outside and classes were cancelled. Star and Tom came early to visit him. They played games, read books, and told stories up until Tom left. Then there was 2...

"So uh.."

Marco spoke up as he watched Star flip through a magazine.

"Yes?"
