Kind of a long one/it's thanksgiving/I feel like a hypocrite and you'll understand

John's P.O.V

"Alexander, I will leave you." I say, sitting on the bed.

"I'm almost done, wait!" I sigh.

It's Thanksgiving today and the gang and I usually have a ghetto version of Thanksgiving, and since Alexander is here, that means one more mouth to feed and one more dish to be brought.

Alexander comes out of the bathroom dressed and I clap my hands. He bows.

"Thank you. Thank you. So, what's the plan for today again?"

"We're going out for breakfast because I want to take my boyfriend out, we're gonna go to the store to get ingredients for a cake, we're gonna bake the cake, we're gonna bring the cake to the Schuyler's house, we eat, happy thanksgiving." He smiles.

"Sounds like fun."

"It is. Let's go out to eat."

After our breakfast, Alex and I go to a grocery store to get the ingredients.

"Okay, so, we could either just buy a box of cake mix or make it from scratch."

"Oooh. Let's make it from scratch. I've never made a cake before." Alexander's eyes light up and I can tell he really wants to bake a cake.

"Okay fine, but I'm not making the icing from scratch." Alexander nods his head as he looks at my phone to see what we need.

"I feel like most of this would be under the baking aisle, no?" I shrug my shoulders.

"Let's just walk up and down and try to find them." I grab his hand as I lead him through the aisles. I hear him oohing at some things and I can't help but smile. I take a quick picture before he could say anything.

"You can grab something if you want." I say.

"It's fine. We're gonna have a ton to eat anyways."

Alex and I keep going up and down the aisles, adding some of the ingredients to our basket. We look at the different icing selections we can have when I hear a little kid talking about us.

"Mommy, look! Two guys are holding hands."

"I know sweetheart." She says. I turn around slightly to see the boy and his mother. The mother doesn't turn to look my way, flipping over a box of brownie mix.

"Is that normal?"

"In this day and age, it is."

"I thought it was supposed to be girls and boys." The mother puts down the box and sighs. Alexander turns his attention to them as well.

"There are some people in this world who don't like what they're told they should like, like some boys like boys, some girls like girls. Some of them even like both. They're still normal people and they aren't weird or unusual because of that." She says. She makes eye contact with me and I give her a small smile and nod. She smiles and nods as well.

"Well, do they love each other?"

"They probably do. Very much. They're willing to hold each other's hand in public, many couples like them hide their love. They're very strong." The little boy walks over to us and Alexander and I turn our heads.
