I'm Speechless

You know how when a character is trying to make a decision, there's like an angel and a devil? That's what the italics are. Alexander is trying to figure out whether or not to forgive him or forget him. It's pretty clear which one is which so yeah.

Also very sorry I haven't updated since the 9th, that's very unforgiving of me. School got me caught up even though I already had chapters written, I just needed to press publish but so sorry.

Alex's P.O.V

I watch in disbelief at my father who is standing right in front of me.

He left you

Why is he here?

He came back

"W-w-what are you d-doing here?" I barely manage out. Suddenly, a rush of memories come over me of when I was a child and when he was around.

He was around

But then he wasn't

"Alexander, I wanted to keep in contact with you ever since I left. But in the Caribbean, it was hard, especially since we were so poor. Especially cause I wasn't her husband and...it's all just so messy and I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry I left you and your brother. I'm so sorry. It's the worst thing I've done and I shouldn't have done it. I was trying to make your lives easier."

He apologized.

But he still left

You could have a relationship again

He broke it ever since he left

He. Came. Back.

"I-I..." I can't say anything. I don't know what to say. For the first time, I don't know what to say.

For the first time, I'm speechless.

"I'm gonna leave my number here. If you want to call me or meet up or whatever. I have so much to say. So many years of conversations that we missed. I would love to talk to you and have you hear my side so." He puts down a piece of paper on the bed and he leaves the room. He closes the door behind him and I lock eyes with John.

John's P.O.V

"A-are you okay?" I ask him. Alexander's face is non readable, making it worse for me.

"I-I-I...don't know." He manages out in one breath. His breathing quickens and I look over to his hand which has started shaking, and he's looking down at the ground. I quickly walk over to him and I grab his hand. I kiss it, and then I kiss his forehead.

"It's okay. It's okay to not be okay." I say. He looks up at me and I see his glossy eyes.

"It's okay. It's gonna be okay." I pull him into a hug, wrapping my arms around his neck.

"I don't know if I should talk to him."

"I don't know either."

"I don't know if I should forgive him."

"It's all up to you baby."

"I just...I want to lie down. Can you lie down with me please?" I nod my head as Alexander goes and lies down on the bed. I wrap my arms around him and he rests his head on my chest. I stroke his hair as his breathing slows down.

"It's just...it's funny how one day...someone can be there and then...the next day...they aren't." He says, scoffing. "He tried his hardest to take care of us. He made sure we had food and we were in bed and it's just...why did he leave?"

"I don't know. The only person you can really ask is him."

"I know. I don't want to, but I want to."

"What are you feeling?"

"Like all of the emotions possible."

"Happy?"

"He came back."

"Sad?"

"It's reminding me that he left."

"Mad?"

"Why now? Why after all this time?"

"Scared?"

"Scared of what I might do or say."

"Stressed?"

"He's back..."

"Flabbergasted?" He scoffs and then the scoffs turns into a laugh. He hits my arm lightly.

"I hate you." I smile, grabbing his face and pulling it right in front of mine.

"I love you too." I kiss him, short and sweet. When we pull away, he sighs deeply.

"I'm gonna talk to him. Just...not now."

"Of course. Take all the time you need. He can't rush you, I can't rush you, only you can control when you're ready."
