He Just Keeps Working

It's December now, which means christmasssss is coming up sooooooooon wooohooo
Also sorry I didn't upload yesterday. I forgot

Alex's P.O.V

After all my classes, I go straight to the dorm. I got a bunch of homework and projects that are all due before winter break and I'm actually trying to enjoy myself for once. I set down everything I'm gonna need and I get to work.

John's P.O.V

I get back to the dorm at around 6 since I had a late class and I see Alexander already working away. He must have gotten here at around 2, since that was his last class.

"Alexander?" I say, closing the door gently. He doesn't respond and I just sigh. He's back to his workaholic state and there really is nothing I can do about it. I could only distract him for so long, but he would just get back to working. I decide to let him do his work, but I need to be aware of when he does need a five minute break.

"Alexander, you hungry?" He grumbles in response and I take that as a yes.

"I'm gonna make you some noodles, okay?" He doesn't say anything back, but I know he's starving. I grab some ramen noodles from our cabinet and I go to the community kitchen. I boil some water for both of us. I sigh, looking at my phone for no particular reason, just wanting to entertain myself. I text Peggy, seeing if I can hang out with her, even though we had a sleepover like last week.

ThePlaceToBe: are you gonna be busy today?

AndPeggy: nope.

ThePlaceToBe: wanna hang out?

AndPeggy: yup

ThePlaceToBe: I'll be there in 20.

The water finishes boiling and I pour the hot water in the ramen noodle cup. I bring them back to my room and I set one down to Alexander.

"I'm gonna be hanging out with Peggy, so if you need me." I say. He doesn't say anything and I just leave. I go to Peggy's room and when I knock once, the door opens. Peggy comes out silently, her fingers over her lips. When we are a distance away, I ask her why she had to come out quiet.

"Oh, no reason. I just wanted to." She laughs and I roll my eyes.

"I'm thinking it was something serious."

"Um yeah, it was. So, Alexander's busy so I'm your second choice, huh?"

"What? No. I love hanging out with you Peggy, but you know, I actually get to make out with Alexander." She laughs and sighs. We go downstairs to the common room and we just sit down on the couch.

"Is he working?"

"Yeah, and you know that when he's working-"

"-he never stops." She finishes.

"Well then, it gives us time to talk." I say, smiling. She nods.

"Let's talk."

I get back to the dorm at 9 and Alexander is still slumped over, typing away and occasionally drinking water.

"Alexander baby, when is all of this due?"

"Before."

"Before what?"

"Winter."

"Winter break?" He grunts in response and I sigh. Winter break was about 2 weeks away, so of course, he's stressing.

"How much did you do?"

"I'm...almost...done." He burps in between almost and done. I sigh.

"Baby, you have tomorrow to finish all of this, you realize that right?" His head lifts up and I hear him sigh. Finally, he drops his pencil and closes his laptop. He turns in his chair and when his eyes meet mine, he smiles.

"Hi." He says. I laugh, grabbing his cheeks and kissing his forehead.

"Hi, my love." I say. I pull away and he rubs his eyes.

"I...worked too much again...huh?"

"Yeah. It happens."

"It's just, I wanted to finish everything and a little more before we go to Boston for winter break and I got carried away, which always happens."

"It's okay. You're dedicated. I'm just scared that you're gonna overwork yourself or possibly snap because I've told you to stop doing work. I don't want my baby to injure himself."

"If I do snap at you, I'm letting you know that it's the work taking, not me." I smile, kissing his forehead again.

"You're just the cutest."

"I try." He skips off to the bathroom to get ready for bed.

Alexander plays with my fingers while we're lying together.

"You know what the girls were talking about during the sleepover?" Alexander says.

"What?"

"Us having sex." I laugh.

"Herc and Laf were talking about the same thing."

"I told them I wanted to do it, it's just, you know, I've never done it and-"

"I've never done it either." I interrupt.

"And you know, I just need to be ready and you need to be ready and-"

"I'm ready whenever you're ready." I say, which is true. I want Alexander to be as comfortable as he can be. He looks up at me and he grabs my face, pulling me into a kiss.

"I love you." He says and I feel my lips forming into a smile.

"I love you." He snuggles up on my chest as I stroke his hair.

"Goodnight my love." He says.

"Goodnight my baby."
