Chapter 18 ~ Sorry Katelyn....

It was Friday.

Finally.

It's been a week since we've picked the play and the role auditions are today.

Katelyn was trying to talk me into auditioning for Juliet. But I don't know how that would work. Especially since my ears and tail would not fit into a costume.

Oh my Irene! Why did I do this! My ears and tail wouldn't fit into anything! I think I need to tell Katelyn I need to drop out.

I walk over to Katelyn, who is chatting with some of her friends. She looks over at me and smiles.

"Hey, Aphmau! I talked to Mr. Baxton and he said he would audition you separately for the role of Juliet! I figured since you seem really shy about it, you could do it when no one is watching!" There was excitement in her voice. Weird.. I though she wasn't really into this play a week ago..

"W-What?! B-But, Katelyn... I can't..."

"Why not?" She cut me off.

"Katelyn... I really don't want to tell you this and ruin your moment but..." I paused. I looked at her and disappointment filled her face. "I can't be in this play."

It broke my heart to tell her this. Especially since she seems really excited for me to be Juliet.

"Oh... O-Okay... That's.. Fine! But, wait.. You said you can't be in this play? Does that mean, you can't be in it, at all? Not even a small role?" She tilted her head.

I though about it, but I saw those costumes. They are way to tight. No way would my tail and ears fit in any of those!

"Sorry Katelyn... Not at all..." 

She sighed "Alright then I guess I can do this by myself, but I was really looking forward to be in the play with you. I had it planned out.. You were going to be Juliet, and I was going to be the nurse that accompanies you and helps you out. But I guess that's not the case..."

Great, when she says that, I feel really bad now...

"But, Katelyn.. How would you know if I would be Juliet? What if I didn't get the role?"

"Then we would be someone else! Trust me all the characters interact with each other at some point of the play..." Her voice just gets more sad as she talks. I have to leave before she forces me to stay.

"I have to go... I'll see you later Katelyn."

With that I walked away

"You what?!" Aaron said shifting to face me.

"I dropped out of the play." I said again.

"Why?" He asked. "I thought you were excited to join?"

"Well... Kinda... But that was until I realized--" I stopped myself from going any further.

"Until you realized what?" He titled his head.

"Um... Until I realized... Uh, my schedule is filled and I have to many activities going on after school.. Yeah.." I said scratching the back of my head, nervously.

"Oh, I see.."

"Yeah, it sucks..."

"Yeah, by the way do you have any advise on how to... Uh..." He stopped .

"Hm?"

"Uh.. How to I put this..? Dump someone?" His cheeks went red.

"Dump? Oh, like break up with them!" I said.

"Yeah, that," He was still blushing, but why?

"Um.. I never did... Why do you ask?"

"Oh, um.. Well, I'm just.. Done with Lily. And I don't know how to break up with her." He rolled his eyes.

"Oh... I see.. Well, I know you told me you had a hard time before, but maybe try a different approach?"

"How?" 

"Just say it, if she tried to say something else off topic just say it. She'll hear ya. Trust me!" I say.

"I don't know..." Aaron said unsure.

"Aw come on! What happened to the Aaron I knew? You know... Tough, and doesn't care what other people think?" I said, slightly punching his shoulder.

"Well, let's just say, some girl has been rubbing off on me." He looks at me and smiles.

"MmmHmm... Well, when I meet this 'girl' she'll regret talking to you!" I wink.

"Haha! good luck!" We laughed.
