*One week later*

So today me, my mom and my sisters are gonna go to the mall to find me a prom dress which is sadly kind of late because prom is next week and I still have to find my accessories and all that good stuff.

But me and Dj decided that the color we would wear was red, so being that I know that it shouldn't be soo hard.

Tania: "So who are you going with?"

Me: "Dj remember?" I said in more of a duh tone

... But not too much cuz moms is crazy.

Tania: "Oh okay. What made you wanna go with him? You hate him."

Me: "Yeah I know but I needed a date." I said grabbing my purse

Tania: "You didn't need anything." She said opening her car door

I rolled my eyes at what she said and got out the car.

Makiyah: "So what color are you guys gonna wear?"

Me: "Red"

Tania: "So what store do you wanna go to first?"

Me: "Well the dress I want said Windsor had it in stock."

Tania: "Well now hell you better hope it's still in stock."

Me: "I knooow. Oh so mom can you get auntie Ty to do my hair and makeup?"

Tania: "Why you want Ty to do it? I can do it." She said looking me up and down

Me: "Well i've never seen you do hair and makeup and Auntie does it all the time."

Tania: "What you trynna say?" She asked squinting her eyes at me

I look at my sisters who are trying not to laugh, I couldn't help it I busted out laughing.

Me: "It's not like that mom. I just want auntie to do it. You always do my hair."

Tania: "Haha! You right, I didn't wanna do yo' nappy ass hair anyway HA!" She said turning around

We all started laughing and walked into the mall

Me: "My hair isn't nappy."

Tania: "How would you know? You have never done your hair."

Me: "You right, it still isn't nappy though."

Tania: "Tell that to the many broken combs I had to throw away over the years." 

Me: *laughs* "Whatever."

We walked into Windsor and started looking for dresses.

Maliyah: "You sure you wanna go for red because this blush dress is cute." She said holding up a cute blush sparkly dress

Me: "Yeah it's cute but I think i'ma stick to red."

We all separated to look for some dresses, which was irritating. It seemed like every dress I came across was ugly.

*45 minutes later*

Tania: "You know what I just thought about?" She asked walking up to me while laughing

Me: "What?"

Tania: "Do you have a picture of the dress?"

Me: "Yeah I saved it why?"

Tania: *laughing* "We could have gone to someone that works here, showed them a picture and asked if they had it in stock."

My mouth dropped and we all started laughing, why the fuck didn't I think of that?

Me: "Well lets go ask."

We walked up to the register and waited for a cashier. Finally a tiny black girl walked to the register.

???: "Hi are you guys ready?" 

Tania: "Yeah we're actually here to find a prom dress for my daughter. She knows what she has in mind but we can't seem to find it."

???: "Do you have a picture?"

Me: "Yeah" I said nodding my head

I pulled up the picture and showed it to her. 

???: "Oh yeah we have it, you're lucky it's the last one." She said walking from behind the register

Me: "Oh thank god." I said letting out a soft sigh

Makiyah: "Lucky." She giggled

Me: "I know." I said returning a smile

Tania: "You better hope it's in your size."

Fuck she's right.. Lawd! Please let this dress be in my size.

???: "Okay and here you go."

Me: "What size is it?" I ask standing next to her

???: "It is a... Small."

Tania: "You wanna try it on?" 

Me: "Yeah." I said taking the dress out the lady's hands "Thank you so much."

???: "Yeah no problem."

I walked to the dressing room and put the dress on and it fit perfect, I showed my mom and my sisters and they agreed it looked good on me.

One down two more to go.

So we just got back in the house and Devon text me asking to come over. It has been a week and I have done some thinking and I do wanna talk to him.

I do understand that it wasn't right for me to everything out on him. It was his dad that did those things not him. I guess for a minute I got kind of worried because the phrases "Like father like son" and "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" came up and I started thinking "Well if his dad did what he did to my mom what if he does the same to me"... But I had to snap out of that and recognize who I was dealing with.

Me: "Hey Dev." I greeted

Devon: "Hey Maliyah."

I gave him a hug and he came in the house. He greeted my parents and we walked to the kitchen and got something to drink then to the backyard.

Devon: "Look Yah I wanna apologize fo-"

Me: "No Dev, I wanna apologize. I shouldn't have taken your dads actions out on you. I just got kind of nervous for a minute, but I do know that you're a great guy and that you would never do the things your dad did."

He nodded his head with a smile on his face.

Devon: "Thank you, I really appreciate that. But Yah I just wanna let you know how I truly feel."

Me: "Okay and what's that?"

Devon: "Maliyah I love you, like a lot. I have felt this way since our Sophomore year and i've tried to shake the feeling but I can't. I guess what i'm trying to say is, will you be my girlfriend."

Me: "I'd love to Devon." I said with a huge grin on my face

We both stood up and gave each other a hug, he tried to kiss me but my dad was in the living room staring out the window so that was out.

But i'm happy me and Devon got to talk and i'm even more happy that he asked me to be his girlfriend.. Tehe!
