Chapter 24 [Blood is thicker than water]

"Answer me, Lex!" I repeated myself. Lex curled his lips not even looking at my direction. "Why didn't you even tell me? How could you not tell me?" I asked. I saw Jane comming from the stairs. jane walked infornt of Lex and I. I couldn't read the expression on her face as she held the journal in her hand. "Mom, didn't want me to tell you yet." Lex answered. I couldn't understand. 

How could my own mother keep me away from my own brother? "Why?" I whispered trying not to let go in frustration. This time Lex looked at me straight. "Because, I was a mistake, James. One day when mom and your father had a fight... Your uncle, which is my dad comforted mom. Then something happened, it was before you were born. Mom hid until I was born. Ofcourse, she couldn't tell your dad after a few years he found out. It was a two years before her death. They started fighting more and more. Mom wanted you to stay as far from me as possible... Because she didn't want you to get involved in this mess even more. My dad and yours weren't in good terms since then..." Lex explained.

I exhaled deep. "Then why didn't you tell me?" I chocked. "Because... I didn't know how." Lex answered. "I'm sorry, James" Lex apologized. More, and more secrets? What's next? I'm adopted? I didn't know what to do I just had to let all the anger out of my skin. I threw my fist on the table. As I saw the huge crack on the table, the blood traveled on my hand. "James!" Jane cried out as she held my face and stood infornt of me. Lex just stood behind her looking on the ground. Lex's tears traveled down his cheek.

The truth is we're just both victims here. "What happened here?" I heard a voice behind me. Hayley. I don't know how to face my own sister like this. "Hayley, please just go upstairs." Lex answered. "Okay." Hayley answered and ran upstairs. "After all these years." I whispered. "It's okay, it's okay." Jane whispered and wrapped me around her arms. I just couldn't understand. Is there more that I need to figure out? I pulled the journal from Jane's hand and moved a little bit backwards. "I need to... I'm sorry Jane. I think I need to handle this on my own." I answered and walked right out of the door.

~Jane's POV

I wanted him to stay and tell everything to me. But I knew he needed some time to think about what he found out. Even I was in so much confusion. I turned around and looked at Lex. His tears continued to flow down from his eyes. I grabbed my hankerchief from my pocket and handed it to him.

Lex took it and wiped his tears and handed my hankerchief back to me. "Thank you." Lex answered. "I don't know what to tell James anymore." Lex confessed. I do understand the pain which James is feeling right now. But still I knew that Lex also had his own point. "I understand the both of you. But you can't just run away form this. Especially now, that the both of you are brothers. You need eachother, you need James and he needs you."

I answered. Lex looked at me blankly. "You're right." Lex asked. "Come here." I said and pulled Lex and wrapped him around my arms and comforted him. "Everything will be alright." I whispered. "I really hope so." Lex answered. I know everything will be alright. Maybe not now but someday it will be. "I'm really glad that you're there for James." Lex said and looked at me as he smiled. "I'm glad that he came to me." I answered. "I apologize for our crazy life." Lex chuckled softly. "Mine is also quite crazy." I said. "Then I guess we're making it much crazier." Lex answered.

"I wouldn't leave, no matter how crazy it may get." I answered with conviction. "Why? Why do you hold on?" Lex wondered. Even I wonder sometimes. "Because," I started. Suddenly my life flashed to my mind. Every teardrop seemed to swell in my eyes. "Because, not everything will stay as it is. It's either you stay and fight or walk away with your memories. And once you walk away its either you regret or move on. I rather stay and fight." I answered. Lex looked at me and half smiled. "You're stronger than I thought." Lex answered.
