*Tara's POV*
the truck pulled up out front of our new place in Los Angeles, and needless to say, I was nervous. I liked our little home back in North Caroline, it was the house I grew up in, not that I really wanted to remember that. my parents would of course leave me to unpack everything while they went and found the nearest bar, or bars. they were drunks, would never put down the bottle, even if they wanted to or even tried hard enough, not that they would.
everyone in the neighbourhood were either college students, or younger friends that lived together. I think the houses up and down the road from us had groups of guys living in them.
"alright kid, your mom and I are going to head out for a while, you good to unpack?" my dad asked me, "yep." I mumbled back to him, lifting the first box out of the van.
they walked off to find the bar(s) that they wanted to and all I know is that I'm alone, and have to bring an entire house of things, into an entirely new house.
*8 hours pass*
I finally got the boxes into the rooms they had needed to be inside the house and proceeded to start unpacking my room. the first box I opened had all of the small things that I kept inn my side drawer, including the mint tin with all of my small sharp friends.
as soon as I began emptying things out of the box there were sounds of arguing and yelling outside, signalling that my parents were home. I walked down the stairs and out the front door attempting to see what was going on outside.
my mother spun around as soon as I touched her shoulder to see what was happening, her hand ripping across my face, leaving me with a red hand mark and some blood running down the side of my cheek. me vision started to blur and one kick was all that was needed to send me into a fading mess.
