*Emma's POV*

i sat with my friends, having a blast. i mean, it is my birthday today. but i don't exactly know where my boyfriend, hayes, happens to be. like, he's my boyfriend and he should be here but he hasn't shown up yet and its kind of strange.

the cake has been sitting empty, and untouched on the counter. I've been waiting for hayes to show but apparently thats not happening.

"okay girls, time for cake!" my mum says cheerfully as she walks into the room. "but mom... hayes isn't here yet." i say back, "honey, if hayes were gonna be coming, he would be here already. now... time for cake!" she said as she lit the candles and got her camera ready.

*flash* *flash* 

the flash on the camera went off as the shutter clicked and kept this moment alive forever.

i blew the camera out as the chanting of happy birthday came to an end. my phone buzzed.
