Slowly the days were passing and the start of The Vamps tour was just a week and a half away.
The boys were flying into London in a few days for some last minute rehearsals with the stage and everything else for the shows.
"Ember sweetheart would you be able to give me a hand at the cafe this afternoon? One of the girls has called in sick this morning and we're short staffed this weekend as it is" My mum said as I finished up my breakfast in the kitchen.
My mum was the manager of a small cafe not far from the park called Hedgehogs Hollow (she's really into nature and stuff). I often helped her out in the holidays and sometimes at weekends when she was short staffed. It was one of the few places I felt comfortable and felt I could be myself, mostly because no one my age I knew from school ever came in and it was mostly regulars that came who I'd known for years.
"Yeah sure" I smiled in reply.
"Great I'll even let you have one of Connie's brownies at the end of the day." She grinned, this was always her way of thanking me for helping her.
Connie's was the baker for the cafe, making all the different types of cakes and biscuits you can imagine. She was the best baker I knew and her brownies where known around the neighbor hood for being incredible.
She was also my mums best friend, they met in cooking class whilst they were both at sixth form.
"We'll have to leave in around an hour or so to get it all set up ready to open." She then added before heading out of the room.
I have to admit I was happy to help her today as I'd only be cooped up in the house all day.
I couldn't even talk to the boys, knowing they'd be super busy the next week getting the last things ready for tour.
I hopped off my chair, putting my bowl and glass into the dishwasher before heading upstairs to find my spare clothes I kept for the cafe.
The cafe didn't have a work uniform as such but everyone still wore similar things, usually a short sleeved chequered shirt and navy blue jeans.
I grabbed a quick shower before getting changed and tying my hair into one side braid.
I also slipped on my black vans before heading back downstairs to met my mum in the hall.
We soon arrived at the cafe and I helped mum, Connie and the two other girls who worked there, Sam and Mel , set everything up.
Soon enough it was past noon and the cafe was full of customers.
"Here you go guys, enjoy your drinks" I smiled, placing four mugs of hot chocolates and a plate of cookies onto a table where two grandparents and their grandkids were sat.
"Thank you dear." The grandmother smiled before I walked back through towards the back of the cafe, where Connie was getting her slices of lemon cake onto plates for some other customers.
"You know I'm surprised Mrs Connors and Mrs Rivers haven't turned into Lemon Cake the way they order it every week when they have their weekly tea meeting here." She laughed finishing placing two slices onto the red and white dotted plates.
I laughed at her comment as I walked over to her.
"Your mum mentioned you had a great summer over in the US with Nate and his band." She then smiled making up two cups of hazelnut tea to go with the lemon cake.
I nodded.
"It was amazing. They're all great guys" I smiled as I placed some napkins on the plates.
