"NATE!!!!"

"EMBER!!!"

We both screamed before I ran accross the arrivals terminal of the airport and into my older cousins arms.

"I've missed you so much!" He said as he hugged me.

"Missed you too Natey" I said hugging him back.

He glared at me for the nickname for a moment before going back to a huge grin.

"Well welcome to sunny LA" He said once we both stopped hugging each other.

"It's really hot already and I haven't even left the airport yet" I laughed picking up my suitcase off the floor, which I dropped whilst running over to him.

He chuckled slightly.

"Well California is kinda known for being hot" He responded.

"Come lets get home, the boys wanna meet you" He then smiled helping me with my bags and leading me out to his car.

I paused for a moment, remembering that was the thing I was most afraid of coming here.

I soon managed to push it to the back of my mind and smile. I didn't want to make Nate feel bad about me not wanting to meet his bandmates/ best friends.

"How do you even remember where you parked you car?" I asked as we exited the airport and walked across the humongous car park, which looked more like a car desert or ocean.

"I have my ways" He laughed, leading my through the car jungle.

"Of course your car is the one with a spiderman face sticker on the back" I laughed shaking my head.

"Nothing wrong with spiderman" He replied.

"Oh you driving?" He then said looking at me confused.

I looked over at him with a similar confused look before realising I was stood on the drivers side of the car.

"Whoops, forgot you guys drive on the wrong side " I said slightly embarrassed at my daft mistake.

"No we drive on the right side, literally" He replied with a chuckle.

"Yeah ok you win" I gave in, knowing he was right (sadly).

"So, what music do you wanna listen too?" He asked once we'd both climbed into the car.

"Hmm well im guessing you don't have Capital FM over here so..." I said.

"Yeah your right, I do have Levi's Shawn Mendes album in here though" He smile grabbing the album out of his door pocket.

"Levi?" I asked.

"Remember, he's one of my bandmates, he plays bass in the band" Nate said as he put the CD in the player before starting up the car.

"Oh yeah, I remember" I smiled.

"Hey, Ember, don't worry ok, they're all super nice, you'll love them" He smiled.

"I'm not worried" I lied.

"Ember, I've known you since forever, I can tell when you'll lying" He said looking over at me.

"I'm just nervous that's all" I then said, turning my head to look out of the window as we left the car park.

He didn't reply but I saw him give a small smile through the mirror. He knew what I meant, he knew I found it hard.

That was the thing with Nate, he understood what I was like, how I didn't trust people easily anymore but I'd never told him why. He never asked either and for that I was grateful. He was always there for me no matter what, even if it was mostly through an Ipad screen. He was the person I trusted more than anyone but I did still keep a few things secret, even from him.
