"I never caught your name" He said, after eating his cup of noodles.

"Just call me Red" I said and sat in front of my little desk.

"I'm Gra-"

"I know" I turned to look at him. He swallowed his pride and donned on his shirt. He looked calm, but his stare was piercing and intimidating as mine.

I was acting so rude to him for so many reasons. That wasn't just the case. Since it was all pretend, I did not see the point in being nice to him. I just needed to get my job done.

My first impression of him was simple; a little bookworm who was underestimated between others of our age. I saw him weak and isolated from the others. It made me wonder about his past. Although, I realized my thoughts were incorrect, when I heard the following sentence come out of his mouth.

"Go ahead then. I'll take any insults."

My head turned to look at him, then my whole body followed. "Insults? Why would I insult you?"

"Because I'm Ethan's twin brother. The worthless twin who walks around school as Ethan's shadow"

His words changed my whole perspective in him in an instant. I shook my head, and sat beside him, checking over his wounds.

"You're getting this whole thing twisted" I raised his arm, to change the bandage on his torso.

"What?"

"I'm not gonna do that to you, Grayson." I explained while he let out small groans from the stinging pain once alcohol touched his open wound. "Why do you think I made those guys leave?"

He was left silent, only watching my arms and hands work. Once I was done, I rose from the bed, and sat back down on the chair in front of my old wooden desk.

I placed my ankle ontop of the desk and did the same with the other, locking them as I placed a cigarette in between my lips.

"You could've just left me there"

Again, his words made me turn my head towards him. I arched an eyebrow an lit the cigarette up.

"But I didn't." I simply answered, relaxing once the smoke entered and left my lungs.

He sighed. "Alright. What do you need from me then"

I inmediately understood those random questions he was throwing at me. He was shutting me down, unable to believe such person would do something out of the ordinary for him.

He even underestimated himself. He, himself listened to what others told him which lead him to consider himself worthless too.

I began chuckling, his face plastered with the most confused face I'd ever seen. "What is it? Why are you laughing"

He was so innocent too.

"Relax, home boy. If you're worried about me blackmailing you or some shit, I won't."

He took a deep breath and laid back down. His forearm resting in the crook of his neck.

"I just really don't get it"

"Hm?"

"I don't get why you're acting so nice around me."

My eyes fell to the ground as I stared at it, feeling the first ounces of guilt kick in.
