Once I had accepted the deal, he handed me some cash beforehand, and told me I should start out today, therefore I spent the whole day in between classes trying to search for his beloved, isolated twin brother.
It was very unfortunate to not have any classes with Grayson. If I had, I was sure the whole proccess should've been easier.
I did not find him, but I did find someone else, or must I say, a bunch of people. They were surrounding someone.
Their arms legs moved repeatedly towards that person, throwing what seemed to be punches and kicks . I soon realized what was happening, and without a second thought, I approached them.
"Hey!" I called out. They turned their heads for a second and smirks appeared on their faces, though it did not scare me at all. I had faced worse situations before.
Maybe growing up in Melrose wasn't really that bad, since I had gotten something good out of it.
They separated. Some held their victim back by grabbing his arms, and the rest approached me, one cracking his knuckles as he chuckled evily.
"Look guys, we have another guest!" He shouted, earning laughs from his companions and making my eyes roll. "We've got a little slut to amuse us" He turned his head to face me, smirking.
"Watch your fucking mouth, you dickhead" I warned through gritted teeth.
I wasn't wrong. I'd seen them before. This had to be one of Ethan's friends, or ex-friends.
He pushed me against the nearest wall, and wrapped his hand around my neck, choking me. "You should be the one watching that little fucking mouth of yours, bitch"
I gasped for air, but then chuckled. "I wouldn't be so sure about that" I smirked.
He looked down to see a gun being pointed at him. He scoffed and let go of me.
"Now move the fuck out of my way" I spat, pushing him away as I made my way to the victim. Once they stepped aside, my eyes widened; it was Grayson who they beat up.
"Let him go" I demanded, remaining calm and fearless.
They clenched their jaws, hesitating at first, but then dropped Grayson to the floor. He was knocked out, unconscious, with blood running from his forehead, cheek and lip. His face was somewhat swollen and bruised.
"Just know this" He grabbed me by the collar and harshly pulled me closer "I won't forgive this little heroic act of yours." He mumbled loud enough for me to hear. I ignored it as he let go of me and left with his gang. I grabbed Grayson's arm, wrapping it around my shoulders.
"C'mon" I growled, struggling to help him up. The guy was heavier than I thought.
It was still class hour so I was forced to ditch classes. Usually it was easy for me to do so, but since I had an unconscious companion with me, it was a little harder than usual.
We grabbed a taxi, driving us to my place. Jack and the rest of the staff helped me take Grayson to my bed before being attacked with a bunch of questions.
"Who is he?"
"What happened?"
"Is he dead?"
"Did you kill him?"
I ignored all questions, and pushed them out of my room. "Out, c'mon. I'll explain later" I told them as I closed the door in their faces.
I sighed, and began removing his blood-stained clothes. I grabbed a small, plastic washbowl, filled it with water and let a towel soak in it.
I took it and set it next to my bed, where Grayson still lied unconscious.
I wringed out the towel and began cleaning his body up.
I could feel his muscles tense up, so I went a little bit more gentle with it. Then once I finished cleaning his body out from blood, I wringed the towel in water once more and folded it just the perfect size to place it ontop of Grayson's forehead.
Soon, he'll be waking up. Then everything around me will changed. I thought as I sat on the floor, my back against the cold wall.
I didn't notice I had fallen asleep. Grayson woke up in the middle of the night, waking me up in the process. His eyes were only open, but he wasn't completely awake.
Right then, he was processing everything that had happened yesterday, in that narrow hallway. All the punches, kicks, nicknames. It was still probably all in his head.
Once he did, his eyes began scanning the room and tried to move, only to be surprised with stinging pain.
He groaned, and I stood up, crossing my arms before him.
"You'll be alright. Just don't try to move as much." I simply said. "I'll go get you something to eat" And just when I turned my heel towards the door, he called me.
"Wait" He said, coughing afterwards.
I looked back, waiting for him to talk. "Thank you."
I flashed a small smile, and opened the door, leaving the room.
