My message to Hans and David was answered quickly. Hans was on holiday with his boat, but David was free. We decided to meet on Friday on the popular Thaiboat. When Friday came I changed to a pretty red summer dress after I closed my shop. He was waiting on the port outside the boat, as handsome as usual, in tight bright jeans, a sporty short sleeved shirt revealing the muscles, and his golden hair glowing in the sun.
- Hi Anna! How nice to see you! His big brown eyes lit up when he sees me.
- Hi David! Nice to see you too! I say and give him a big hug.
- How are you?
- I've been better. Miguel and I just broke up and he seems to have taken over all my friends at the same time. I have no idea what he's said but he is a hell of a chatterbox.
- I'm sorry. I know all about that. It was the same with me and my ex. All our friends took her side.
- It's quite hard actually. It's in moments like this you need your friends, I said and we sat down at the bar waiting for a table. Next to us there was other people from the dance world that we "knew" and we started talking. David asked me what I wanted and immediately went to the bar. No hesitation at all. I liked that. He came back with my wine and we got seated to a table outside. We had a wonderful time. Later in the evening we went on board the boat. They were playing salsa on the dance floor.
- Would you like to dance? I asked
- I'd love to! He answered and it was wonderful to dance at a restaurant where everyone thought you were a professional. He was a master in salsa but completely without the behaviour that usually came along with it. We hit it off like Yin and Yang on the dance floor as we had done the previous year. Around midnight we sank down in the sun chairs among the fake palm trees on the fake " beach" with real sand. We admired the giant harvest August moon right in front of us.
- Thank you for a lovely evening, David!
- Thank YOU! I was really glad when I heard from you.
- I have to go home and get some sleep. Can I drop you somewhere?
- Yes, near the bus station at Slussen, he said and I drove the few kilometres.
When we stopped he turned around and looked deeply into my eyes.
- Are you the kind of girl who likes when men takes the lead? He finally asked.
- Absolutely. I like men who know what they want, but still respect me and what I want, I said and he leaned towards me and kissed me. We looked at each other for a while but didn't say anything. He stepped out of the car and said good night. I drove the short way home.
Before I fell asleep I thought of David and his kiss. It wasn't an innocent kiss. There was something more there that definitely just wasn't sexually. I was confused. What was I doing?
The weekend after I invited him over for dinner at my house. We had a lovely time and talked the whole evening. I told him about my struggle to get back on my feet and my experience from relationships without trying to talk badly. David told me about his life.
- It's getting late David. You can stay here if you want , but I'm not ready for anything else.
- No worries. I have waited for you more than a year. I can wait a little longer.
- A year? What do you mean?
- Since our first dance and when we stood together at the bar afterwards, talking, at Jhonnys. You got me then.
