Chapter Five
~Violet's POV~
"I don't get it." I sigh, throwing myself beside Tee on her bed.
"Get what?" She asks, not even bothering to look away from her phone. I sigh again. This causes her to look over in worry.
"He just doesn't make any sense." I say, staring up at the ceiling.
"Jax?" She wonders.
"Yeah. I mean something's definitely different about him. You have to admit that." I say, glancing over at her, to see she's staring up at the ceiling as well.
"It's not just him. Something's up with both him and Zander. I just can't figure them out." I hear her sigh in frustration.
"Yeah, I've definitely been trying to figure Jaxton out. And I'm not giving up. But it is kinda frustrating." I admit.
"Good. Don't give up. I can just feel it, we're meant to get close to them." She looks over at me, a serious look on her face.
"Tee, stop with the life or death seriousness." I roll my eyes.
"For all we know it is life or death." She exaggerates. I shake my head.
"Yeah, come find me when you come back to reality." I get up and leave her room. I go back to mine to grab my wallet, keys, and phone, before heading downstairs.
"You going out?" Anne asks as I pass by the living room.
"Yeah, I just need some air. I'll be back soon, promise." She nods so I continue on my journey. I aimlessly walk until I hit the end of The Ropery, the I turn right. I walk until I hear a loud noise. I look over and see a little alleyway type thing. I look around the street, but see no one in sight. Soon enough someone runs past me, they look back and see me, which causes them to stop. Jaxton? He rolls his eyes in annoyance it seems like, but comes close enough to me to grab my wrist and start running again, pulling me with him this time. We run a couple of streets before he pushes me to the side and looks back the direction we came.
"What is going on?" I wave my hands around frantically.
"What were you doing out there?" He asks, rubbing a hand through his hair, still looking around worriedly.
"I was trying to clear my head. What were you doing out there? There was a loud sound then you came running?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Don't worry about it." He won't look at me. I don't like it.
"Jax..." I lightly touch his arm. He flinches back like I burned him.
"You need to stay away, Violet." He looks me in the eye, but his eyes are so dark, so cold. I get the most unwelcomed feeling looking in them so I look away. I start walking back in the direction of the house. I glance back to see he's gone.
"Violet?" A confused voice asks, I turn my head slightly to see Zander. I shake my head.
"I don't know what your guy's deal is but you can both stay the hell away from me." Anger floods me.
"What happened?" He sighs.
"What happened? Are you kidding right now? I was just trying to clear my damned head until he had to take off running, pulling me with him - and I have never felt less welcomed anywhere before. So I get the message. Leave you guys alone. Well do the same for me." I shake my head, turn on my heels and continue home. I am so done with those stupid boys. Gorgeous or not, they're bad news. I go home and recollect all of the events to Tee. She smiles happily and I glare at her.
