Chapter Twenty One
~Violet's POV~

I get up for school late. Why Tee never woke me up, I don't know, but I'm in the biggest rush I've ever been in. I run around my room, throwing together everything that I need to get done and I run downstairs. I can't find anyone else in the house and Snow is gone. They left me. Teegan Quinn, you will pay for this. I grab up my bag and take off running down the street to school. I take every shortcut possible and slip into my first period's classroom seconds before the bell rings. I let out a breath of relief.

The door opening halfway throughout class catches everyone's attention. Who walks through the door? Jaxton freaking Gunner.

"Can I help you?" My teacher raises an eyebrow at him.

"I'm in your class." Jaxton tells her. Shock is quite evident on my face and I know he sees it.

"Take a seat and make sure to catch up before the next test." She informs him sternly. I look around the classroom and as hell would have it, the only open seat is beside me. Because why would the world want something to go my way for once? He slips into the seat beside me and I ignore him. Or try to. He clicks his pen repeatedly, because apparently he's so original.

"Stop." I hiss at him, as quietly as possible. A smirk forms on his face and a challenging look enters his eyes. I might actually kill him.

Class could not end soon enough. I jump up and rush out of there, but apparently not fast enough to escape a vampire, because he grabs onto my wrist, pulling me to a stop and spinning me around to face him. A huff escapes my mouth.

"What's your deal now?" He asks, confused again.

"My deal? I don't have time for this. I'm going to be late for class." Why won't he ever just give up?

"Violet, what do you want from me? I told you everything yesterday. I don't see why you're pissed again so soon." He's getting angry now too.

"I can't trust you, Jaxton. I thought that we had gotten close, but then you tell me that you're a-" I look around the halls and lower my voice, leaning in closer to him, "a vampire. And that's not even all. This entire time you've known that me and my family are all witches. Powerful witches. You actually thought that I was here to hurt you and you never told me that I would lose everything by being here." By the end, tears have formed in my eyes. Because apparently demons and witches aren't the best of mates and witches stepping into William Gate have trouble surviving the demons. Yeah, that's great. No big deal.

"You clearly think I'm in the wrong here and nothing I say will change your mind, so why even bother wasting my breath? But you better hurry. The tardy bell's about to ring." Then he walks away. I'm left standing there hurt and confused. Because he gave up on me so easily. I decide to skip the rest of my morning classes, so I go to the library instead of the classroom.

"What's going on?" I demand to know as soon as I see Teegan at lunch. She jumps back, surprised to see me.

"What are you doing here?" Yeah, great question, Tee.

"I'm at school. Where else would I be? At home? Why did you leave me?" I demand answers.

"Tee..." Zander trails off, eyes widening, when he sees me. I clinch my fist and nod, slowly backing away.

"Message received." And then I take off running down the deserted halls. Where am I going? Wherever I end up. Tears stream down my face. How could she do this to me? After everything, I thought that I was more important. My phone rings and despite the fact that I really don't want to talk to her, I feel obligated to give her a chance. So I answer the call.
