Chapter Twenty Eight
~Teegan's POV~
"I just don't understand why you were so upset, Violet! Then you go a whole day without talking to me? What's going on!" I stomped my foot, growing rather frustrated.
She rolled her eyes and turned away, probably trying to hide the fact that she's crying.
I walk over and sit next to her on the bed. "Violet. Just tell me what the bloody hell happened at the restaurant."
Maybe it was more than just the restaurant. She was upset since she woke up. Did she have a bad dream?
"I've just.. I'm hurting."
I sighed, "We all are, Vi."
She shook her head, the tears falling more rapidly down her pale face. "I've been so cold lately, it's painful. My teeth have been aching like never before. I've been having headaches and bad dreams again. Everywhere is in pain. My body is in constant pain." She slumped forward, looking defeated.
I scrunched my eyebrows together, confused. "Maybe you're running a fever? On your period?" I suggested. She shook her head again, "No. I feel like my body is trying to transform. It's sucking the life out of me." She tried explaining.
I drew in a breath, trying to think of what to say. "Maybe we need to go out."
She stared at me, "Have you not heard a single thing I've said? I don't feel good, Teegan. Why on earth would I want to go out?"
I stood up and held my hand out, "To practice magic, of course." I shrugged, "It'll be fun! We can have the boys tag along so we can practice on them!" I exclaimed. Talking about it made me grow excited.
She looked uncertain, "What about the kids?"
"They're at school. Now get up! We leave in ten!"
Not but thirty minutes later, we parked and walked a few minutes down a hill into a valley with Zander and Jaxton.
"You ready to get beaten?" Zander playfully narrowed his eyes and popped his knuckles.
I shot him a glare and turned to Violet. "Okay, remember; they're vampires. They can take whatever we throw at them. So don't worry. Just let loose and have fun."
She nodded with an excited smile, "Let's do this."
Jaxton threw the first punch - he grabbed the nearest thing he could, which happened to be a fairly big boulder, and threw it at us.
It feels like it was more to me, but I'll stick to 'us'.
Instinctively, I put both hands up, facing the boulder, and moved them down to my right side. I smiled a proud smile when the boulder followed.
Zander then picked up a smaller boulder and hurled it towards Vi. And guess what she did. She smiled!
She smiled and stood still until the bolder was less than a foot away from demolishing her. Once it got that close, she rounded her lips and blew. I flinched, thinking she was about to get hit. But, was pleasantly surprised when a huge gust of wind came out of her rounded lips and pushed - actually, more like shoved - the boulder back to Zander, nailing him right in the stomach, causing him to fly back from the force.
Too amazed by the fact that my best mate just did that, I didn't bothering worrying or helping Zander. Knowing full well that he isn't hurt.
"How did you know you could do that?" I wondered, staring at Vi.
She shrugged, the smile never leaving her face, "I didn't."
Before I had the chance to yell at her for being reckless, I saw a big tree coming my way from the corner of my eye.
