Chapter Twenty Four
~Teegan's POV~

"Ah!"

I woke up startled by the piercing scream. Jumping out of bed, I threw on a T-shirt and some panties and raced to the hall. I paused, not quite sure where it came from, but decided it has to be from Iris. I made my way to Iris' room to find her standing up, shaking and crying.

"Oh, baby. What's wrong?" I kneeled down in front of her and grabbed her poor trembling hands. She looked at me and let out a heart wrenching sob before collapsing on me, throwing her arms around my neck. She held me tightly, as I did her, and cried into my chest.

"Iris, darling, what's the matter?"

She shook her head, "I'm bleeding." She meekly whispered into my neck.

My first instinct was that she's hurt. But, I then looked down and saw what she meant.

Poor girl started her period!

I laughed, oh, poor Iris! Silly girl is frightened! Truly frightened!

'What's going on? Who's frightened?'

I laughed even harder, Iris! She just got a visit from Mother Nature!

I can imagine Vi at the store laughing like a mad man right now, which causes me to laugh even harder. The boys probably think she's going insane!

"Why are you laughing at me!" Iris demanded, breaking herself out of my sloppy embrace. I calmed down and grabbed her hand, "You know how once a month Mother Nature comes from hell and makes women bleed?" I asked,  once she nodded, I continued. "Well, Mother Nature paid you a visit, dear. You've started your period." I tried giving her a reassuring smile, but she still looks terrified.

"I- you mean, I'm turning into a woman now?"

Seriously? That's what she's worried about? Not the aching and the bleeding?

I stared at her skeptically, "Yes.."

"What will happen!? Will I have to quit school and get a job? Will I have to marry a man and have babies?" She panicked.

I held my hands out, trying to stop her rambling. "Woah, woah, woah!" I grabbed her by the shoulders as I stood up, "No! Not in a million years will you marry a man and have his babies!"

She looked worried, "But I have to quit school and get a job!"

I sighed, "No! Just shut up, will you? Jesus. Having a period just means you have to be extra clean, you will get  acne, you will have agonizing cramps, you will have mood swings, you will start developing woman parts and you'll start smelling." I informed, thinking it would soothe her knowing what she's up against.

But, she just looked at me with horror written all over her face. "I don't want to become a woman! Then I'll get fat like you and Vi!"

What?! Fat?! Violet and I are not fat! I mean, I guess we are a little generous in the derriere, but most definitely not fat!

"I hope your period sucks!" I stuck my tongue out at her. She glared at me, "Why aren't you on it?"

I smiled victoriously, "Vi and I both have an IUD, which causes us to not have a period for five years. So we have four more years to go."

She widen her eyes, "Hey! I want that!"

I shook my head, "Nope! You get to suffer!"

"I'm sorry! You're not fat!"

"I know. Now, let's go, kid. We need to tell Vi and the boys to pick up some pads for you while they're out." I left her room to go fetch my phone.
