Nicole plopped onto her bed, exhausted. She had just finished her evening chores and was suppose to go to bed. It was nine o'clock at night.

But she couldn't sleep. She suffered with insomnia and usually couldn't go to sleep till about twelve. Now, what to do till twelve, she didn't know.

Sometimes she would read a book, but her sister, who slept in the same room as her, hated her keeping a light on. Sometimes she would listen to her music and just think, but that got pretty boring and Nicole didn't always enjoy the company of her inner thoughts. Sometimes she would watch YouTube, but that got boring after a while.

Nicole pulled out her phone as she turned it on. "9:23 pm, February 5th," it read. She typed in her password as the screen unlocked.

Than a memory came back to her from a few days ago.

In her band class, they had just finished practicing their most recent song, and were taking a break for a few minutes. You know, so people can catch their breath an stuff.

Well, Nicole sat right next to this girl in her Clarinet group, named Riley. Now, Riley and Nicole had been decent friend for a while now, but Nicole couldn't necessarily consider her a good friend.

Well, Riley had pulled out her phone, which was against the rules, and started to read a book on it. Nicole looked over her shoulder and asked. "What book it that?"

Riley stopped reading her book and looked at Nicole with a smile. "It's called, Insanity."

"By who?" Nicole asked father upon.

"Oh, it's not by any well known author. It's actually written by just an average person." She answered.

"What do you mean?" Nicole asked.

"Basically, there is this app called, Wattpad, where anyone can write and post books." Riley replied.

"Anyone?"

"Anyone." Riley smiled. "It just a big community of readers and writers."

"Are you writing anything?" Nicole asked honestly curious.

"Yeah," She answered. "But I don't have the guts to post it. I'm not the best writer."

"Neither am I." Nicole sighed. "If I ever check that out, I would probably just read."

"A lot of people do." Riley answered. "But it kind of is fun to write. Maybe you should try it. You wouldn't have to post it."

"Yeah, no." Nicole declined. "Writing sounds boring and exhausting. Plus, I am terrible. I'll just stick with being a reader kind of person."

"Suit yourself." Riley said as she looked back at her phone and started to read again.

Nicole thought that maybe she would check this out. Than, she could read and not have to worry about keeping the lights on.

She went over to the app store and searched it up. "Wattpad." She found it fairly easy and downloaded the app.

Once the app was done downloading, Nicole tapped on the app as it opened up. The first thing she saw was a screen that said, "Sign up."

"She didn't tell me I would have to have an account." Nicole groaned. But because of her eagerness to cure her boredom, Nicole decided to go through with it.

She tapped on the first category, email. She typed in her email, than went on to the next category, username.

Nicole groaned. She was never good at thinking of good usernames, and she didn't want anything silly or full of dashes and underscores.
