Scarlett's POV
I sat in my room debating on asking mom if I was allowed to go to rehearsal. Dani asked if I needed a ride and I explained the whole shit fit that was thrown. We called it. But we didn't pay no mind to it. Amelie was at her usual Saturday school classes and dad was at work. I decided that she might let me and I walked out of my room.
She was sitting on the couch flipping through a magazine and didn't look happy at all.. I caught a glimpse of it and saw that it was her but dressed up.
"Oh why did I have to let Lin talk me into this..." she sighed.
"Mom?" I asked nervously. She shut the magazine and looked up at me. "Um. We have another rehearsal today. Am I allowed to go?" I asked her.
"Well. I guess. It's your grade and I can't let that slip. Do you have a ride?" She asked.
"Well Dani asked if I needed one and well, I told her you might've wanted to take me yourself." I frowned.
"I trust you. After last night I doubt you'd ever lie to us again." She said while opening up the magazine again. I looked over her shoulder and thought she looked stunning..
"Why are you upset with your pictures?" I asked.
"I'm not... But I just wish I hadn't done it. I feel so exposed and I don't like it." She frowned.
"But as an actress you're already exposed." I said quietly.
"Yes I know. But I only did it because it was my passion. I thought it would've been different. But guess I'm going to have to suck it up and live with it again. I start rehearsals soon myself." She sighed.
"What play is it again?" I asked.
"Ensemble for Book of Mormon." She shrugged. I started laughing at the title and she rolled her eyes. "Oh hush! It'll bring in something for this family!" She laughed.
"You're kidding! That show is too funny." I laughed.
"Yes I am kidding." She smiled. "As much as the show is funny I would never agree to that one." She smirked. "I was asked to be a standby for Elphaba on Wicked." She shrugged.
"You're... Whoa! Mom! Congrats!" I was shocked. She shrugged and kept looking through her magazine. "Mom! That's a big deal. It's been on forever... how are you not happy?!"
"I am happy." She said with a blank face. "I just wish I would've done it sooner." She shrugged.
"Why didn't you?" I asked.
"I got pregnant with Amelie and Alejandro. I couldn't. Then your father was writing his musicals so I had to stay home with you three." She shrugged. "But it's okay. I got to play a couple really good roles when you were younger. Which make me a reliable veteran." She smiled. I nodded and looked at the clock in the kitchen. I better start getting ready to leave. I was proud of my mom. She deserved to be happy.

"Your mom is going to be on Wicked?!" Dani gasped.
"Yes but please keep that to yourself. You know how much my mom hates when people know things before they happen and fame." I whispered.
"Of course." She nodded while stringing another Crystal to a curtain. "So your sister.. how bad?"
"Grounded until dad approves." I sighed.
"She done messed up." She shook her head and looked at me. "And you?"
"I think I got off with a warning... I haven't done anything bad lately. Plus I think my parents are thinking this was a leveling the playing field thing... So yeah..." I shrugged.
"Maybe you can convince your parents that being that strict is going to cause Amelie to act out more." She suggested. I shrugged again and shook my head.
"My mom threatened to send her to China with our relatives so she could learn respect." I whispered. Dani's eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. It was rare for my mom to do an open ended threat, but when she did, she meant it alright.
"I can't believe I got the role!" Serephina squealed. I rolled my eyes and knew the roles weren't posted yet. Just trying to make people upset. What a bitch.
"Hey, my little bro is having a birthday party next weekend. Your family is welcome to come if they want. My mom actually gets along with your mom." Dani laughed.
"I'll tell them." I smiled. "Is your dad still deployed?" I frowned.
"Yeah. He's supposed to be back next month though. So it's all cool." She smiled. I nodded and went back to work with the sequined curtains. It was tedious, but effective when it came to our props. We finished our work and left around four in the afternoon. Dani decided to hang out at my place and my mom of course approved it. We talked about the party and mom seemed to be happy that the whole family was invited.
"So anything new in your life Dani?" Mom asked.
"You remembered the nickname!" Dani smiled.
"Well, it would be a bit rude since I insist people call me Pippa instead of Phillipa." She laughed. I smiled and looked through the fridge for a snack. "But anything new?" She repeated.
"Just waiting for my dad to get back home. Thinking about trying crack too." Dani said casually. Mom stopped cutting the carrots and looked at her with a blank expression. "I'm kidding..." Dani laughed.
"Oh thank god... Wait..." She raised an eyebrow at Dani and she couldn't help but laugh. "God I don't like you theatre obsessors sometimes." She smirked. I rolled my eyes at whatever they were talking about and found an apple to eat. I really wanted to test my allergy to bananas but mom insisted it would kill me if I did.
"Scarlett tells me that you'll be doing Wicked soon. Don't worry, I won't tell a soul." Dani said while putting her hands up.
"Yeah, I'll need to sort that out with the school... Oh well. It was fun while it lasted right?" Mom laughed. We agreed with her and helped her finish dinner. I was glad mom was never angry all the time. It wouldn't sit well with her.
