Scarlett's POV

We stood in a circle on stage after our performance. It was nerve racking since we finally got the news on whether or not we were going to be on Broadway... We had been performing for a month straight, changing so many things just to make everything work right... I looked around the room at everyone who had helped bring this production together and smiled at them. No matter what happened, we would have our run here off Broadway, then hopefully be off to better things. Mom was standing next to Dad holding his hand and looking at the director. Everyone was nervous....

"Alright guys, enough waiting right?" He laughed. "I have finally gotten word from the critiques." He sighed. "And well..." He frowned. Everyone's energy started to die down. Everyone was starting to become upset.... "Unnamed and Deceitful is going to be on Broadway in the Lunt Fontanne theatre this Fall!" He yelled. Everyone went from depressed to excited in a second. I squealed and jumped up and down where I was standing. I caught a glimpse of mom and dad hugging and crying. They were the ones who wrote this thing together...

Then it really hit me... I stopped jumping and being excited to really think about it...

Unnamed...

The girl dad met so many years ago and never learned her name but had fallen head over heels with her even when he was drunk... Found her again still didn't know her name, then finally learned her name after working with her...

Jess was the girl Harold met but they never had a kid together... Never got drunk... But they had fallen head over heels with each other after one night just to never see each other again for years...

Deceitful...

The feelings mom had when Steven passed, and dad taking me away from her when I was younger...

The feelings Jess had towards Harold when he left her for other women...

I was playing the part of mom in her old life....

"Why aren't you happy?" Ignacio asked me with a huge goofy grin on his face. "You're going to debut on Broadway!" He smiled.

"I just realized what this play is about." I laughed.

"What? Why now? It's a love story gone wrong. But comes back around." He smiled.

"I know... Something I do know all too much about." I said while looking at mom and dad.

Everyone sat on the rooftop of Taylor's apartment. We had a little party with everyone, hoping we weren't bothering the tenants below us. Ignacio was talking with dad about something and mom sat next to me.

"It's a wonderful view isn't it?" She asked.

"It is. It's hard to believe you raised me in this city." I laughed. "Without losing me."

"It was hard." She laughed. "You wanted to see everything.." She smiled.

"I finally figured out what the play was about mom." I said quietly. She raised an eyebrow at me and smiled. "You guys are sneaky." I laughed. She shrugged and took a sip of her wine. "but I'm glad to play a wonderful role momma." I said while resting my head on her shoulder.

"We auditioned over thirty girls for your role." She laughed. "Your father was so particular about who was going to play, well.. Essentially me in a way. That's why I brought you up when you came home from Comet auditions. I know I told you that I wanted you to get that part, but my head was screaming for you not to get it... So I may have sabotaged your audition.. So you could play in this musical." She explained.

"What?!" I gasped. "How?!" I asked her.

"I called the director up and told her that no matter how great of a performer you were, don't let you have the part. That I would send her the list of girls that auditioned for me if she didn't let you in." She sighed. "I don't feel great about it, but even thought Comet did make it to Broadway once, it wasn't a guarantee that it would happen again." She frowned. "So when she told you all of those things, and when you came home upset over it all, I knew what I had done was wrong... But look at you now. Happily in a relationship, more friends that love you because of you, a Broadway Debut..." She smiled.

"Mom... I really don't know why you did all of this..." I frowned. I was on the verge of tears... She gotten me so much in life even after everything was going down hill in our lives... "You've been doing so much for me... I don't know how to repay you..."

"Just make sure you don't have any kids before you get married, and don't do drugs, and please for the love of god don't become a stripper." She laughed.

"I promise." I said while wiping my eyes.

"Oh no! She's already crying!" Ignacio frowned. "Guess I better do it now huh?" He laughed. Mom nodded at him and I watched him get down on one knee and he smiled. "Scarlett Elizabeth Miranda. I know we haven't really been the best couple in the world when it comes to spending time with each other." He started sarcastically. "But I see us in a very long and happy relationship... So would you please, please, please do me the honor of being my bride to be?" He smiled.

I looked at mom and she laughed really hard. I did too of course.

"Did my dad tell you to say that?" I smirked.

"I had no part in that! But that was a good first try." Dad laughed.

"I'm trying to live up to certain standards that were put into place." Ignacio smiled.

"Oh you big goof. Yes I'll be your bride to be." I laughed with the rest of the group and everyone cheered. He helped me stand up and placed the ring on my finger.

"Thank you." He whispered before kissing me. Everyone continued cheering and I couldn't be happier.
