****Random fact: My fiancé won't let me listen to Hamilton or Great Comet while driving because I start getting really emotional...****
Amelie's POV
Mom and dad weren't living with each other anymore. Mom had gotten an apartment more near the city and dad stayed where we were. Scarlett and Heather chose to stay with mom all the time since it was closer in the city. Alejandro and I only visited mom on weekends since dad lived closer to school for us. I felt like my life was falling apart... Mom had no right to tell dad she didn't love him.
"At least pretend to be happy when you see your mother." Dad sighed. I shrugged and looked out the window. He always drove us even though we were old enough to take the train.
When we got to mom's apartment I went straight to my room. I didn't care for her. She didn't care for us enough to stay with dad. I knew she was just buttering us up for this.
Alejandro's POV
Yes, I was upset that mom and dad were separating, but Scarlett explained it all to me before the shit hit the fan. Mom did practically settle and she was regretting it.
"Hi mom!" I smiled and hugged her. She gladly took my hug while Amelie walked right passed us. She was being a little bitch because she was dad's favorite.
"We'll be back!" Scarlett yelled while running passed mom.
"Where are you two going?" Mom asked.
"Gonna merge casts! Great Comet and the Hamilton cast!" Heather smiled. "They're having a huge party to announce the revival of both so we're gonna have fun!" She smiled.
"They're finally reviving Hamilton?" Mom laughed.
"How long has it been closed?" I asked.
"Only about seven years... It's a bit soon, but alright." Mom shrugged. "Make sure you two network!" Mom called after them. I shrugged and walked into the kitchen. It was the only consistent thing on the weekends for mom and I. We always made dinner together unless we went out.
"Scarlett told me a little bit about Steven. I'm sorry that he didn't get to live longer." I frowned while washing some lettuce.
"Oh." She frowned while pulling out the meat from the fridge. "Well, if he hadn't died, you wouldn't be here." She was trying to lighten the mood...
"Be honest mom. You love us kids but you never really loved dad." I stared.
"I do.. Just not enough to keep the marriage going. He's a really nice man, and I just don't want him to feel this love for me, when I don't love him like that back..." She explained.
"How did you and dad get married anyway?" I asked.
"We eloped." She frowned. "He just woke up one morning, took Scarlett to your grandparents house, then we went to the courthouse and got married." She sighed. "Then we spent a week in Puerto Rico." She shrugged.
"Did you love him then?" I asked.
"I did..." She said while chopping the meat up into cubes. "I just don't think eloping while going through the motions of life wasn't the best option."
"Why?"
"I was still grieving over the miscarriage." She frowned. "You would've had another older sibling if they would've lived..." She smiled. I watched her continue to cook in silence and smiled. Mom was always so nice to people and always tried to do her best in life with us. How come Amelie didn't see that?
"When you get old I'm gonna take care of you mom." I smiled.
"I'm already old." She laughed.
"No you're not! You're just... Not old." I laughed.

Scarlett and Heather came home at a reasonable time of ten which was great. Mom didn't worry too much. She walked in with a guy right behind her and laughed.
"Who is this?" Mom asked.
"Mom, this is Ignacio." She introduced. "Ignacio, this is my mom." She smiled.
"Your mom is one of the writers?!" Ignacio panicked. Scarlett laughed at his reaction, then looked at mom. "I promise I won't try anything on your daughter..." He said quickly with wide eyes.
"I'm going to say this just once alright?" Mom frowned while pausing the movie we were watching. "You do anything to my daughter that makes her question you, or if she comes to me crying, I will make sure you regret every decision you ever made. I won't ruin your career, but I will make you rethink it." She pointed.
"Yes ma'am." Ignacio gulped. Scarlett smiled and walked with him back outside.
"Are you going to be like that when I start dating?" I smirked.
"Yup. Any man who wants to treat you like a toy is going to feel the wrath of me. Simple as that." She shrugged while resuming the movie. Amelie walked out to join us in the living room, but was drawing the whole time. Didn't speak one word to us. Mom frowned and I knew she was heart broken over Amelie refusing to talk to her.
~~~
"You need to figure yourself out." I whispered to Amelie. "Mom is literally heartbroken because of you."
"Oh please. She's out dating other men anyway. She doesn't care about us." Amelie scoffed.
"No she's not! She's trying to take care of us! And she wants to have a real relationship with you but no. You want no part of that." I watched her grab her things and pull her hair back. "Where are you going?!" I whispered.
"A party. Cover for me big bother." She laughed while leaving. I groaned and thought about it. I wasn't a bother... Right? Or was I a bother?
