"You just happened to have a wooden stake in your pocket?" Ana asked, raising en eyebrow.
"You are the one who had garlic in your purse," I whispered.
"Wooden stakes are handy," Kaito said, "They can be effective to both humans and vampires."
"You sound like you were born and raised in this town," Ana said.
"I have that effect on people," Kaito said, grabbing my arm, "We are going back home."
"Wait, what?" Ana asked, the blood draining from her face.
"You heard me," Kaito said, grinning evilly, "I live in the Kinsberg mansion. I'm a vampire, you fool!"
Before Ana could say anything, Kaito and I immediately teleported back to the mansion. "You thought you could get away, didn't you?" Kaito asked.
"I don't understand, why couldn't you just let me leave?!" I cried, "You said it yourself that you hate humans, so why keep me here?"
Kaito laughed. "It's just that I love seeing you in pain. It brings me entertainment in this boring world."
He turned around and started walking towards the house. "Wait, what about Daniel?" I asked, tugging his shirt.
"Don't touch me!" Kaito snapped, pushing me, and I fell to the floor.
"What gives?" I asked, "I only asked you a simple question."
"Shut up," Kaito said, "We will deal with Daniel when he comes back."
"Alright," I said, walking towards the forest.
"Where do you think you are going?" Kaito asked, grabbing my arm.
"Don't touch me!" I cried, imitating Kaito's voice.
"Do you think I'm going to allow you to continue breaking the rules like a peace loving unicorn princess?" Kaito asked, pushing me against a tree.
"Why does everything trigger you?" I asked, my cheeks growing slightly pink. Kaito was standing right in front of me, and he took the scarf off my neck.
"When I drank your blood the other day," Kaito said, tracing over the fang bites with his fingers, "I noticed something quite interesting. Your blood seemed to have that taste to it...you seemed like you were being turned on. In other words, you seemed to be attracted to me."
"What are you talking about?" I said, my eyes bulging out.
"You want more, don't you?" Kaito whispered into my ear, "You want me to drink your blood right now. But you also want more from me. Am I right?"
"No," I said, "You are fucking insane."
"Ouch, I love it when you talk dirty to me," Kaito said, "But I bet you love it when I do too. All the other guys bore you. I'm the only one who is different. But fine if you want me to leave, then i will. Sooner or later, you will realize that I was right."
He vanished into thin air, and I fell on my knees. What just happened?
******
"You weren't able to escape?" Vasile asked.
"Kaito caught me," I said, lowering my head to my hands.
"Don't worry, we will get another chance," Nicholae promised.
"I've tried to escape twice," I said, "And both times, he just happened to be in the town."
"That's strange, I thought Kaito didn't like leaving this house," Vasile said, frowning.
"Don't worry, Aurora," Nicholae said, touching my shoulder, "It should be all right. Kaito is just a strange person. He has been alive for too long, and he transformed from a shy poet to a psychopathic sadist."
"You both don't seem that crazy though," I noted.
"Does that mean you like me now?" Vasile asked.
Nicholae punched Vasile in the arm. "Not the right time," he hissed.
"You didn't have to punch me!" Vasile cried, rubbing his arm.
"We will help you find your mom and get out of here," Nicholae said, "Our father is coming next week on his 240 birthday to host a huge ball."
"You guys still host old fashioned parties like that?" I asked, confused.
"Yep, and the theme is always the 19th century," Vasile said, "Our father is still stuck in that time period. He wishes that the fashion styles never changed."
"Wow, I wonder how my mom met him," I said.
"Who knows?" Vasile asked.
"Time for dinner!" Felix yelled, walking towards us.
"Ugh, do we have to?" Bora whined, walking down the stairs, "The food sucks."
"Yeah, who makes this disgusting food?" I asked Nicholae.
"I have no idea," Nicholae replied, "I thought it was Felix."
"Woah, there is no way I would cook something so unappetizing," Felix said, "Isn't it you Bora?"
"I don't even know what a 'pot' is," Bora whined, "Maybe we have a secret maid or something?"
The five of us decided to walk to the kitchen and find out the truth for ourselves. When we opened the kitchen door, all of us gasped. There was Kaito standing in the kitchen with an apron over his clothing, cooking something that looked like a bunch of small snails. We all stood there, our jaws wide open, and he pretended to ignore us as he placed all of the "food" on the table
"Are you guys going to stand there or are we going to eat?" Kaito snapped, turning to us.
All of a sudden, Vasile started to laugh. "All these years, I ate whatever shit was presented to me, thinking that we had a hermit butler or something, but this whole time, it was you!"
"Yeah, so?" Kaito said, "Do you want to cook the next meal? I didn't think so!"
"This doesn't look too bad," Bora said, taking a slice of strawberry cake.
"Thanks, I forgot the margarine," Kaito said, and Bora spit the cake out of his mouth.
"You know, I don't think I'm hungry anymore," I said.
"Me too," Nicholae added.
"Fine, if you want to starve then be my guest," Kaito snapped, "As if any of you could do better."
All of a sudden, the door opened, and Daniel walked in. The room became silent. "What did I miss?" Daniel asked.
