I decided to upload a day early so enjoy!
"So what, are you two a couple now or what?" Kaito asked, glaring at the fact that Nicholae and I were holding hands.
"So what if we are?" I asked, smoothing a crease of the white Victorian style dress I had found in my room this morning that had been sent by a mysterious person. I hated to admit it, but Kaito looked good in the classic European noble 19th century outfit he was wearing. But of course, Nicholae looked better.
Kaito opened his mouth to say something, but then two girls in matching blue and pink pastel, sparkly dresses popped out of nowhere. They were both caked in makeup and were wearing three pearl necklaces. They looked like their names were Vampire bitch #1 and Vampire bitch #2.
"Kaito!" Vampire bitch #1 yelled, "Where were you? We were looking everywhere for you!"
"I'm sorry, I should have texted you." Kaito said, "You know me and phones. We don't mix well."
And then he leaned over and kissed her in the mouth! If that wasn't enough, he leaned to Vampire bitch #2 and kissed her on the mouth too!
"This is going to be a great night," Kaito said, smirking at Nicholae and me. We just looked at them as they walked away.
"Wow, talk about a big ego," I said.
"I know right; he thinks he is better than all of us," Nicholae added.
"When is my mom and your dad coming?" I asked.
"In like an hour or two," Nicholae replied, "Do you want to dance until they come?"
"Sure," I replied, and we walked to the dance floor that was already flooded with people dancing. There was a group of people playing classical music in a corner. We awkwardly started to dance, and it felt more strange dancing in public than in private.
"How is New York City like?" Nicholae asked, breaking the silence.
"It's totally different than this town," I said, "It's lage and busy and there is a lot to do. Sometimes even a large city like that can get boring, but I always had two best friends who love to adventure and keep me busy."
"Do you like it better than here?"
"Of course!" I said, "This town is boring, and Kaito isn't letting me leave, and I think my mother has officially gone crazy."
"You know, there is something that has been bugging me for a while now," Nicholae said.
"What?"
"When I bit into you, I noticed that you already had fang marks."
A bead of sweat formed at my neck. "Yeah so?" I said.
"Who was it?" Nicholae asked, "It's kind of a rule here that we can't bite into each other's food unless we are allowed to."
"It doesn't matter," was all I could say.
"Were you forced?" Nicholae asked, "Why can't you tell me?"
I wanted to tell him, but I don't know why I couldn't.
"Was it Daniel?" Nicholae guessed, "Vasile?"
I just looked at the floor and said, "No, it was Kaito. He is insane; I swear he wants me dead!"
"We have to find a way to get him to the person he used to be," Nicholae said, "It's like he is under a curse."
All of a sudden, the lights went out. Everyone started to murmur and whisper in confusion.
"What is going on?" I asked.
"They are here," Nicholae replied, "And they are early."
I looked up and a man in an elegant white suit and a purple tie was standing in front of the crowd, and my mother was standing right next to him. I squinted. Was that really mom? Her blonde hair was put in a high bun, and she was wearing thick eye liner. Her skin looked wrinkle free, and her lips were dark red. She was wearing a black dress and long, expensive heels. What had happened? The mom I knew didn't care about makeup, and she liked to wear yoga pants every day.
"Mom!" I yelled, running towards her, and everyone looked at me, confused.
"Is this your daughter?" the man asked.
"Mom, get me out of here!" I cried, "Take me back to New York City!"
"Aurora, not now," she hissed, "Can't you see I'm busy?"
"But you haven't even picked up your phone when I called!" I yelled, not caring if I was making a scene, "Do you plan on keeping me here forever? Is that what you want?!"
My mom slapped me on the face hard, and I gasped, falling on the floor.
"I only sent you to my fiance's kids house, because you are in my way," she snapped, "They should have killed you by now, bud sadly, they haven't. If you want to get back to New York City, then you are going to have to get there yourself."
Tears welled up in my eyes as she walked away. What just happened?
"Aurora, are you ok?" Nicholae asked, running to me.
"Leave me alone!" I sobbed, "You just like hanging out with me, because I am your prey!"
Nicholae was frozen in shock as I stood up and sprinted away.
