I woke up to see Vasile and Kaito staring at me.
"What?" I said. "How am I still alive?"
"I'm sorry, we had to do the only thing we could," Vasile said calmly, touching my arm.
"No," I said, my eyes widening with fear. "You didn't."
I screamed, grabbing the bedside table and chucking it at Vasile. "I don't want to be a vampire!" I screamed. "How could you do this to me, you piece of shit!"
"Aurora calm down," Vasile whispered, looking scared. "You sound suicidal."
"Shut up!" I cried. "Maybe you should have let me stay dead! I was having a dream that was so sweet that it hurts it wasn't real!"
"Um, Rory?" Kaito asked.
"What?"
"Why do you have a wedding ring on?" Kaito questioned.
I gasped, looking at my hand. The gold ring was clearly on my hand. I sobbed, tears falling down my face, and I fell on the ground.
"It wasn't a dream," I sobbed, choking on my own tears. Kaito walked to me and gave me a huge hug.
"It's going to be ok," Kaito said.
"Kaito, it hurts," I sobbed. "It really hurts!"
"Shh, it's going to be ok," Kaito said, kissing me on the forehead.
I sobbed for a long time, and before I knew it, a whole entire day had passed. I walked downstairs and saw Kaito flipping pancakes.
"Hey beautiful," Kaito said with a warm smile.
"Who are you and where's Kaito?" I asked. Kaito laughed.
"Rory, you are depressed," Kaito said, "but since you are a vampire now, I thought I could show you what I love most. Hunting!"
"I'm not a vampire," I denied.
"Have you looked in a mirror?" Kaito asked. "You have fangs now. And sexy red eyes."
"You're disgusting," I stated.
"I lost Nicholae too," Kaito said. "I couldn't bear to lose you too. It would be too lonely."
"Fine, I'll hunt. Happy now?!" I cried. "I wish I never came to this house!"
"Sometimes I wish I hadn't been born, but we can't always get our wishes," Kaito mumbled.
We both walked into the forest, and Kaito grabbed a rabbit. "See, the trick is to..."
"No! Don't!" I cried. "That rabbit it too cute!"
"Let me finish," Kaito said, glaring at me. "The trick is to put your fangs in a tender spot like the neck. Now try."
"But Kaito," I whispered, looking at the innocent rabbit.
"Try!" Kaito screamed. Tears fell down my face, and I fell on the floor sobbing.
"I'm sorry," Kaito said letting the rabbit run away. "I shouldn't have yelled."
"Nicholae wouldn't have yelled at me." I sobbed. "He would smile and say it's ok."
"Nicholae had flaws too you know," Kaito said. "Before he died, he was a brat. But for some reason, he started acting quiet after he died which I thought was shady."
More tears spilled from my eyes. Oh, my poor Nicholae. Poor, poor Nicholae.
"Here," Kaito said, finding a dead bird. "Just drink the blood from this. It will give you strength."
I whimpered and slowly drank the blood. It tasted sweet and savory at the same time. I felt evil already, and I wish I could have stayed dead.
"See, you did great," Kaito said, grabbing my hand. "Now, let's go back."
I wanted Kaito to let go of my hand, but I didn't have the energy to fight back.
"Where is Mr.Kinsberg?" I asked.
"I don't know; he just vanished," Kaito replied.
"When he comes back, I'm going to make him pay for what he did," I said. "He's not leaving alive."
I looked at my hand and gasped. "The ring!" I cried. "It's gone! I must have dropped it in the forest!"
I pulled my hand away from Kaito and ran towards the forest.
"Rory, wait!" Kaito yelled, running after me.
"The ring," I mumbled, looking down at the pile of leaves everywhere. "Must find the ring."
"You aren't making any sense," Kaito said, looking at me as I frantically walked around the forest.
"I'm not leaving until I find the ring I was wearing on my hand," I snapped.
"Why? It's just a stupid ring," Kaito said.
I laughed a little and continued to look at every inch in the ground.
"You aren't going to find it," Kaito said, but I ignored him.
"Did Nicholae give you that ring?"
"Does it even matter?"
"Listen, you don't need a ring to remember your memories with him," Kaito said. "Plus, you still have that pearl bracelet he gave you. You may think that you are the only one in pain, but it hurts for me more. I lived with Nicholae for two hundred years, and now he is gone. And now I have to suffer without him!"
I sighed. "I guess you are right. Let's just go back."
Kaito nodded, and we walked out of the forest, the memories of Nicholae forever in my heart.
